Question about 2003 Mazda 6
Hi ive a mazda 6 2003 2.0l diesel with 130k on it noticed a knocking noise when first start it then now and then during drive .brought to mechanic told me i needed to replace belt tensioner. done that and now knocking is even louder seems to be something driving by belt as i can hear it and see belt tensioner kinda hopping . same symtoms as before i changed tensioner although tensioner had little bit missing not sure if it needed to be changed

teh resaon he wants to replace your water pump is because it runs off of your timing belt.and if it should fail later down the road after belt replacement.then you will be looking at another big expense having the same job done twice.i would rcomend you do get the waterpump replaced also.as for you other problem im not sure. samboiv

I would check the sway bar linkages, they are usually the first to go, and they are only $40. Its an easy 'do it yourself' project, remove the old one with torches or a grinder (with a small cutting wheel). You can also use a vise grip and sockets but it takes longer.
You can't tell these are damaged until you remove the part. I change mine every 100 000km or so.

one thing to check is rear engine mounting i have had a stone wedged in one and it causes a nasty noise when accelerating

If u keep it below 25 miles an hour you should make it, but this loud noise worries me, this noise means something is coming apart, if it does it may lock the trans up, so keep the speed down.

when driving you can' t just shift it that easy . when you shift you have fush or kick the clutch pedal , then shift then release the clutch . Its done during the driving sir.
