If the door adjar light is on than you have a bad door switch. They are part of the door latch assembly. It is more common for the drivers side to go bad but it could be anny of them. A scan tool would be helpful in narrowing down which one it is. What you can try is spraying carb or brake cleaner into the part of the door that holds the door shut (the latch). Spray it into every nook and crany in that area. Open and close the door several times will a serving the door adjar light. If it goes out problem solved. If it doesn't go out get it scanned to see which one has failed and then pull that door pannel to inspect. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

SOURCE: 1999 mercury villager brakes lights

check the brake light switch. It could be defective and it costs less than $30 and easy to replace. Buy an OEM from the dealer instead of a $10 one from the auto parts store. It is located above the brake pedal.

SOURCE: keyless keypad code

Inside the vehicle behind the left rear quarter interior panel there is a theft module that has a sticker on it with your keypad code.I believe its about 5 numbers. If you have a side compartment on your interior panel you can remove and look above the wheelwell area for the theft module.(gray box.)

The wiper governor is in the enigne comaprtment, driver side. You probably have a bad ground in the engine compartment casuing this issue from the engine swap.

Rear tail lights on my 1999 mercury villager won't turn off

Your brake light switch is bad or it has slipped out from where it's mounted, against the brake pedal. The lights will stay on until you change or fix that switch. Have it checked.

Interior lights will not turn off.

dimmer control turned all the way will switch on interior lights, if not may want to wd40 switches that the doors engage when shut. These are small usually push button types, they do break too and are adjustable
