Question about Cars & Trucks
Tailgate will not open , window operating normaly, relay clicking at front but no noise from tailgate lock
Not knowing the year, make or model this sounds like a bad actuator release motor, you will need to use the key to open the tailgate and then remove the panel to inside the gate, once inside you will need someone to hit gate button while you test for power and a good ground at the actuator , if there power and a good ground then replace the actuator, also makr sure the lingake is connected,

You have faulty/burned out lock motivator (or the little motor that kicks the mechanism to unlock the door)
Goto your dealer to get the part, shouldn't be expensive.
May want to make sure you don't have any bad relays, but I doubt that is the issue.
It should be a fairly easy fix and something that you could do with a 6 pack of bud light and a buddy. Just take the door panel off and look for the motor that is attached to a rod that goes back and forth that unlocks and locks the door.
Good luck, it should be an easy fix.

SOURCE: 1996 Isuzu Rodeo stuck tail gate
Remove the interior trim panel which will not be easy since the gate is up ---- you can then access the lock mechanism and will probably find a bent linkage rod or a broken plastic retainer clip.

SOURCE: can not oprn tail gate
Hello jhall 538...this is a common problem on the blazer. If you can hear the rod actuator working, then the actuator rod to latch rod connector has broken. It's plastic, and a poor GM design.
To get the rear hatch open you will need to manualy release it. It can be done by working as much of the plastic tailgate trim you can get loose, from around the top center of the gate, where the latch is. remove the 2 screws that hold the handle on and remove handle. Then pry as much as you need to access the c type latch, and release it by moving it... it's spring loaded and will only move one way. Haveing someone help you lift the hatch while you unlatch it from inside the vehicle helps. After you get the hatch up and the tailgate folded down, make sure the latch is locked in the open position.
The actuator can be repaired, i've done it several times. GM will try and sell you a complete new acutator, which is rather costly compared to the $8.00 piece of plastic you need. This is what it looks like...The little blue plastic piece on the end of the actuator is what you need.
Good luck and i hope this helps.

make sure the back window is all the way up then try the wiper, if it still does not work then it is a sensor for the rear window (about $30.00) if you installed it yourself
