Replacement diagram for 1987 jeep serpentine belt

It is possible to upgrade a 1987 Chevy 350 engine to a serpentine belt assembly using parts from a 1994 Chevy small block engine. However, there are some differences between the two engines that may affect compatibility.
One major difference between the two engines is the placement of the alternator. On the 1987 engine, the alternator is typically mounted on the driver's side of the engine. On the 1994 engine, the alternator is typically mounted on the passenger's side of the engine. That isn't the way to do it. You should have a bypass pulley, which keeps the route and the angles and the same length belt.

You may be able to find one online, or, go to a good Auto-parts store. When I replaced the belt on MY 1987 Jeep, NAPA auto parts supplied me with a diagram.

call a parts store they usually can provide you the routing for serpantine belts good luck getting it right though it can be tricky pay close attention to how the belt is routed :)
