On my Golf 1.9TDI (2005) both top and bottom Calliper fastenings have a 7mm Allen bolt thus you will need a non standard 7mm Allen Key not 12 point

it is on the front of the battery (toward the headlight) down at the bottom - you will need a rachet (15 mm i think) with an extension. you can push a little against the plastic cover that houses the back of the headlight and expose the bolt or you can take out the 2 black screws on the plastic headlamp cover and slide it out (takes about 45 seconds)

you have to remove the oil pan without the gasket because the gasket is attached to your oil pan baffle and that can't be removed until you unbolt your oil pump. i pried the **** out of mine until i realized the gasket couldn't come with it. no haynes manual will explain it as simple as it could be, i hate those books
