Open the hood. Right on top of the headlamp assembly you will see a round metal lever (1/4" in diameter) fitting into securing clip. Pull it out by turning it clockwise 1/2 turn then pull it straight up to release the locking mechanism of the headlamp assembly. Lift out the assembly and remove it out of the way then look straight down where it sits and you can see the backside of the daytime running lights where the bulbs are. This procedure after knowing this secret takes a couple of minutes to replace the bulbs.

Check under the hood where all the fuse boxes are located and you will need to find the DRL Module, it is a rectangular, squarish black plastic module, pull it straight up to remove it and purchase another one and install.

How to replace daytime running lights

You have to loosen the six grill screw nuts thingies, and also the 2 headlamp assembly units screws that hold the lights in place. Once everything is loose you should be able to pull out the light assembly units and stick your hand far enough down to pull out the daytime running lamp. I am a girl obviously and I have done this myself. If you would like I will post a video of this and show you how to do it. Write to me at miss TLC at iCloud.com

How do you change the daytime running lights on a 2008 Chevy Tahoe LTZ? Is there a way to take the whole lighting fixture out or no?

daytime running lights work through a relay module that change the power to the high beam lights which act as the day time running lights.why would you want to remove this system if you could as it doesn`t affect anything other than this system.plus if your in Canada you can get a ticket for them not working as this is a safety related system.

How do I replace the bulb in my daytime running light (DRL) on a 2002 Chevy Tahoe? I can't find a way to take off the lens (without breaking it), or take out the socket from behind. Please help!

Open the hood, then remove the headlight. To remove the headlight, there are 2 "L" shaped brackets, one on the left, one on the right. Rotate them both toward the front of the car, then pick them straight up and the headlight will come out. Now, you have to fiddle with the daytime running light socket a bit. You have to twist it to the right and it will pop out. However, to twist it, there is a plastic piece on it you have to depress to get it out of the way of a 'stop' that protrudes from the daytime running light housing. Take out the old bulb, put in the new one, slide the bulb back in at the angle you took it out, then twist it back and it will snap in place. (The snap is the sound of that plastic piece hitting the gray 'stop'.) Put the headlight back in and you're done.
