Escort van heating

The heating on my van now only blows cold air. The anti freeze started pouring out the passenger side followed by some smoke. my friend capped it. Do I need to remove the whole dashboard to fix it or can I access it from under the bonnet?

Hi sounds like heater core problem.if you remove the panel that comes from under the dash to the gear shift you will see the heater box in front ,now remove the bottom of that box you should see the heater radiatior.now comes the harder part from under the car at the back engine on the bulkhead two pipes goin into the bulkhead .take these pipes off and the clip so that you can remove the small radiator out of the heater box to replace.

Smells like anti freeze and smokes alot when given gas and also smokes when idleing under the airfilter on the passenger side of an 1990 supra yo

If there is white smoke coming out of that location, chances are that you have a heater core leak. Hot radiator fluid passes through 2 smaller radiator tubes to the heater core. Air from the fan is passed over the heat exchanger, and hot air blows out. White smoke = steam. You can block off the heater core tubes until you can get it replaced.

My heater is only blowing out cold air!? Help!?

first of all, make sure coolant is ok. if ok change thermostat. the reason it does not heat up is that if the thermostat fails it will bypass it. causing it not to heat up! when done if car does not heat up bleed air out of system till you get heat.

Overheating

If you are adding anti-freeze every time this happens, you are still loosing coolant some were. I assume there are no puddles on the garage floor or where you park the van? Check the oil dipstick and make sure the oil is not a "milky"color. Check the passenger side carpet for wetness, you may have to pull it back.
If all of that is OK, you are still burning the coolant by way of the intake gasket or head gasket.
Good luck, let me know.

Heat works on driver side, passenger side blows cold air.

Did you check your coolant level or was it low and you added to it at some point? If so the system my need to be bleed or worst case the thermostat is going bad.
