Question about 2001 Ford Focus

2 Answers

Ford focus won't start all electrical is working power to starter lost power ( car shut of completely( was accompanied by a large bang)) when shifting from second to third engine will not manually turn over a full rotation with a wrench on the end of the harmonic balancer it will partially rotate though about 70 to 90 degrees which leads me to believe that it isn't seized I was thinking that the clutch may have exploded and shot some thing into the starter thereby jamming the pinion gear/ starter gear into the fly wheel teeth thanks nam

If anything happened in the engine to prohibit complete engine rotation I would strongly suggest you do not try to crank the engine. The starter will try to crank the engine regardless of whether or not complete rotation is possible. If you can't crank it manually the starter will have the same problem.

As far as what happened to the engineit could be anything, especially when accompanied by "a big bang".

Good luck Loringh

2003 Ford Focus Engine won't turn over

Try crossing the starter wires, it should turn over. Is key ok, maybe its not coded? Also check connectors on starter . Try disconnecting battery for 30 mins, might reset electrics.

BATTERY TERMINALS GET CORROSION AND LOSE THEIR CONNECTION AND UNLESS YOU HAVE A HEAVY SET OF JUMPERS YOU WONT GET ENOUGH POWER TO START ENGINE ,TRY REMOVING BATTERY TERMINALS AND SCRAPING THEM CLEAN, IF VEHICLE THEN STARTS COVER BATTERY TERMINALS WITH GREASE TO HELP PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN

Ford focus won't turn over ,was fine this morning parked up now won't start getting whinning sound from side of engine

If the temperature is low, then the engine might have struck up. You need to give heat and then try starting. If you still face the problem, then open the front and check if any wires have been cut off or else call or an mechanic to solve the problem,

Thanks

Have a 98 ford explorer and it won't start tryed to jump it nothen. Put a starter in and still won't click ove it sounds like it dead but if I play with the power distreber box I'm dash lights...

it could very well be the starter solinoid mounted on fender under hood. most fords are setup this way. to test it -- You could use jumper cable to jump the two large studs on the solenoid together, which should make the starter crank the engine, assuming the engine can rotate freely. If jumping the solenoid works, then the solinoid is probably bad. have a good day !!

My 2003 ford explorer just shut off, and will not start it will not even make a noise.

sounds like electrical power is lost to engine.
So, power source is at starter relay. Check connection there. If you have a volt meter - use it. If not, rig up a 12V light and use it. Find the bad connection - starting at the starter relay. I guess that the lights (head lights, radio, etc.) work.
So, carefully clean battery power leads. The problem is in that part of the electrical system.
