SOURCE: I have a faulty lock

The part to replace is the coil shaped spring in trunk lock mechanism. This is a common problem affecting all VW cars.

If the trunk is stuck closed the first challenge will be reacking the latch.

Most Passat models allow you access to the trunk by removing the rear seats, which are usually foldable. Behind the seats you may find a frame that is easily removable ( check also beside the headrests, near the small rear window).

With some model you do not have foldable rear seats, and in that case it may be more difficult to reach the latch. In that case, before taking apart the whole rear side of the car interior, ask help from a friend. While someone tries unlocking from inside the car, the other plays with the boot pushing down door and helping it to open up.
If that is not enough, the boot can also be opened in a quick way by using levers and ribbon spacer. In that case the job must be done by a mechanic, or you risk to damage the car bodywork.

With most passats you simply take down the rear seats and crawl into the trunk. Remove carpet and often you can already operate on the lock and open it by using a big flat screwdriver. in some case you have to do part of the job from inside the trunk.

Here a forum on the same problem.

BOOT OPEN but not open warning light on dashboard say this with red warning light

The sensor is located and probably built into the boot latch. The sensor is good because the light goes off if you close it slowly. the latch is just worn out with that particular part. Replace the latch. It is not hard to replace if you have a few hand tools.

I can not open the boot with the inside boot lever on my Mazda 121 1991. Is it locked from using it?

Does using the key in the lock on the boot work? If so, there may be a problem with the release cable. Unlock with key and get the cable inspected or lubricated or adjusted till it works.

Please help my mazda 3 boot does not open. Thugs once try to force open it with a screw driver then failed leaving the lock broken. I then started relying on the little opener in the front seat until it...

Only one solution . When you have the boot open remove and replace the lock assembly with a new unit. Get the new lock and take it to a locksmith and have the tumblers set to suit your key. Insert the lock. Check for damage to the rest of the lock assembly.

My trunk will not open on my wife's 2001 slk Mercedes. It's not locked. I think something is stuck in the lock. Can you help me?

your can check is it something stuck in the lock, first operate your roof either way, if you are going to open the roof as a first action boot lid will open to backward, let boot lid fully open and stop operating the roof, ignition off and have a look if something stuck you can see, if you are going to close the roof let close the roof and before close the boot lid stop operating roof switch, otherwise faulty boot lid lock, if faulty lock but you can try by mettle key blade which is in your electronic key, first take out mettle key from electronic key then insert mettle key in to the key hole in boot lid turn fully left and open boot if not work turn fully left and push it in, is this information helped you?
