SOURCE: 4g63 engine won't fire up

you should check the compression. its the easiest way to make sure you didn't bend valves. alot of times when the 'B' belt breaks, it gets sandwiched between the 'A' belt and crank sprocket, causing it to jump time.

SOURCE: how to release hydraulic timing belt tensioner

After you set your timing marks, remove the bolt from
the center of the tensioner. Remove the tensioner, and put it in a vise with small wood blocks to prevent
any damage to the tensioner. Also there may be a plug at the base of the tens. place a socket or flat washers around the plug to prevent damage. There are small holes in the push rod and housing slowly
compress the push rod to line up the two holes.
And insert a pin in the holes. this will keep the
tensioner compressed until.you're ready for it.
Also be sure to closly match the new belt and the
old one. There are two timing belts for this engine.
One is a 195 tooth belt the other is 201, if the belt
you use is a little to long, it will slip on the water
pump and cause overheat problems.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Do i have 2 remove the timing belt on a 4g63 sohc to replace the water pump

I'm not familiar with the exact model, but I have never seen an engine design that would require you to remove the timing belt to replace the water pump. Most manufacturers recommend that the timing belt and the water pump be changed at the same time. They have similar failure times, and it's just easier to get to both at the same time.
You should probably take it to a shop and have both changed at the same time if you can afford it. I would not recommend you attempt to change the timing belt yourself, unless you really know what you are doing.

How do I set the Balance Belt & Cam Timing Belt on a Mitshubishi 4g63 16v 2.0l sohc engine please?

tdc @ 1cyl. cam shaft has triangle stamp mark on face of the gear.both valves for # 1 should be closed in compression stroke and triangle should be pointing at left side top of head(9 o'clock) on the silent shaft and oil pump pulleys both marks must align with each other , use a metal rule for a straight edge.it would be wise to purchase a haynes manuel for your vehicle.this manuel gives you illustrations and step procedures to align all components on your g63b engine ....chris

Changed water pump and put the timing out.need to reset the timing. can you help me please.

That car has the 4G64 engine in it. The manual below covers both the 4G63(DOHC) and 4G64(SOHC), but it should definitely help you get that timing set. Timing belt removal procedures start on page 33.

I need to find a timing belt diagram for a 1994 mitsubishi galant

Your car will have the 2.4L SOHC engine in it (AKA 4G64). This manual will show you how to replace the timing belt (and more). Timing belt procedures start on page 33.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/4570538/Mitsubishi-4G63-4G64-Engine

(P.S. this manual also includes the 4G63 engine, you can identify your engine by looking at the procedures for the Single OverHead Cam[or SOHC])
