SOURCE: How to change battery cable for Mazda 6 2005

I presume you mean the battery terminals. Remove negative terminal first by undoing the clamping nut then the positive and scrub the terminal and cable clamp with baking soda and water being careful not to get anything on your clothes or eyes. You could alternatively use a combination brush tool available from the auto parts store or a round file. Put the clamps back on and then coat them with vaseline or grease to slow down future corrosion. Be careful not to short the terminals with any tools while you are doing the work.

Mazda 6 - Wont start, just clicking noise when key is turned. Battery seems dead, but radio etc came on??

radio don't use as much voltages (AMPS) as the starter motor. remove battery and charge up. remember radio is coded so you will need to put the code in after. negative lead first off the battery.also have ignition turned to number 2 then turn off and you have 30 seconds to remove the battery. if not battery starter motor solenoid has failed and a new motor is needed. check battery first.

Car tries to start like the battery is ab;out dead. had battery checked and was good. any theories?

Chec to see if the starter connections are tight. If they are OK, check the cables and grounds for the battery and starter cables. If they are good, pull the starter and have it checked.
