This may be due to a malfunctioning antitheft system. When this system fails the starter will get turned off. This link explains and offers help with this problem.

If you have lots of juice in the battery make sure the car is in park or neutral if it is a standard There are 3 terminals on the starter the one with the large cable on it should be live all the time if not you have a poor batt. con. If you have juice there then take a heavy wire and run it from the batt + side to the starter term with the small wire on it the engine should crank if not your starter is likely bad.If it does crank you have a bad neutral switch or clutch switch

Relay switch or fuses

If the battery is good, then there should be power at the starter solenoid. The solenoid is connected to the starter. The solenoid is energized by the ignition key. When the key is turned, the starter solenoid allows power to feed the starter. Try tapping the starter solenoid while turning the key. Have a friend help and use something non metallic to tap the solenoid. Good luck!

My 1995 chrysler new yorker wont start. i turn key and get nothing. battery is charged and starter does not crank.

If the dash lights up, but no crank, it could be the anti-theft system, or the neutral safety switch, among other things.
Have you tried cranking it in neutral ? Do you have power at the starter post ?
Does everything else work when you turn the key on ?

Truck not starting, starter good but not turning over

You need to check with a test light that the starter has power when turning the key over. The best way to do this is have someone turn the key while you prob the power wire on the starter. If no power to the starter you need to trace it back. If there is power then the starter or solenoid is bad

My 1998 Accord will not start. When i turn the key it acts like the battery does not have enough power to turn the engine. I tried jumping but that did not help. I did notice that when the headlights...

It's possible that the starter or starter solenoid has failed. If you have a meter or test light, check for power at the battery cable connection to the solenoid. Try the starter, if the light goes out or the meter reads zero volts, suspect a poor cable connection at the battery end. If power remains, move the test to the starter terminal. If power appears when the key is turned, but no engine turning, replace the starter. Hope this helps!

Engine doesn't even turn over but I have power

Check the fuse box for the ignition fuse. If it is not blown you need to get a volt meter and see if power is getting to the starter when the key is turned (watch for moving parts). If power at the starter then the starter is bad. No power at the starter then its the ignition itself, or a starter solenoid.

94 z wont start

You will have to check, at the starter, for power to the SMALL wire on the starter solenoid (which is on the starter) when turning the ignition switch to start.
If there is power to this wire ( usually purple ) and power at the LARGE cable ( from the battery ) at the starter end.....you need a starter.

If you do not have power at the small wire at the solenoid with the key in start position and battery power is OK.....check the safety neutral switch.Moving the shifter around a little can sometimes allow the car to start if the neutral switch is worn.

A new battery does not always mean a fully charged battery.
Try a boost from another car before testing the starter for power.

The battery cables need to be clean and tight....and check the ground to the engine as well.

Everything else may work OK with bad connections, they don't use the power the starter needs to turn the engine over.

Won't start getting nothing when i turn key

Recheck all your connections, battery. starter, look for fuseable link on small wire going to starter. Might want to chk.that wire with test light when key switch is in start position and see if it lights. If it does not light might be starter switch under dash on steering colume.
