Question about 2008 Pontiac G5
I have a 2008 Pontiac G5. The fuel, tach and speedometer gauges are going crazy. At the same time, the Power Steering, Low Fuel lights flash, sometimes losing my power steering. What should I check?

sometimes when the battery is too low the gages will go haywire.check you battery terminals for good conductivity and current levels. sounds like a low current problem.computer runs on 12 volts not 11 or 10. low current will give poor performance and bad electrical response.
try that first then look for shorts under the dash ie naked wires or burnt wires.

HAve the battery AND alternator fully tested. I suspect it to be a power supply problem and one of the two items if not both are in need of repair/replacement.

SOURCE: gas guage, tach problems
I have been having the same problem. My gas gauge reads empty when full, never moves. My RPM will go hay wire when in hot weather. Like if i'm going 50MPH the needle will go to the RPM 5. And sometimes even go past that intrupting my MPH. So they'll be intwind. So, I would not now how much gas I got, how fast I am going.

Check for hidden access covers for mounting hardware if not the pannel is secured either lock-pins released by a plastic weidge or needs to be lifted upward of weidge hooks mounted on the pannel itself. A cheep service manual like haynes at the local autoparts store should have this info in it.
