Question about Chevrolet Caprice
The dome light works if I turn it on with the dash lights dimmer switch, but it doesn't come on when the doors open. It's been suggested that this might be because it's a police package car and there's another switch somewhere for it to come on when the doors open. Can anyone help me out?

SOURCE: no dash light
Check for a small amp fuse in the fuse panel to be blown,if it is not blown, check ,with a test light to see if there is voltage going to the fuse, note, the headlight will have to be on to test this,if there is no voltage going to the fuse(remember to adjust the dimmer when testing also)replace the head light switch, this circuit is controlled by the head light switch,if this was at all helpful, please rate, thank you.

your door close switch is non-functional. its located in the door jamb. its a black button the size of a shirt button. usually held in by one or two screws.
there is one for each door.
