Question about 1998 Dodge Caravan

1998 Dodge Grand Caravan

After changing a battery all of my indicator lights for rear wiper and ac have come on. I went through the self diagnostics test, and the recirculating and ac light stays on. I know my ac is not working. Leaky evaporator. How do I get the other lights to turn off?

When you changed the battery you loosened or broke the body ground wire just follow the ground cable from the battery to the engine and try to find a smaller wire that is disconnected or broken

I need to replace the windshield wiper blade

The 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan takes 28" wiper blades on both sides front and a 18" rear wiper. See related links below for more information. Since there are over 22 different wiper arm attachments, do not buy wipers just by length only - be sure to lookup exact wiper blade part numbers by vehicle make, model and year for the brand wiper you decide to purchase. This ensures correct length AND correct attachment.

How do i replace the window shield wiper blade

The 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan has the most common hook-end wiper arms. See related links below for installation videos. Also, purchase the replacement blades first and there will be additional instructions/illustrations on the replacement packages. Locate and press the tab or button where the wiper blade is inserted into the hook of the wiper arm and pull wiper blade out of hook. You may have to rotate and flex the blade to make enough clearance for the hook to pass through.

1998 dodge caravan. AC problem. My AC doesnt work, the lights on the dash are blinking. I took the Van to C-Tire to get the AC recharged as the AC clutch was not turn when the van is running. C-tire did a...

do this calibration reset, it will usually rest he lights and the ac will work again, if it doesn't reset you have a part failure and the dealer you need to hook a Chrysler scan tool to diagnose the problem.

CALIBRATION/DIAGNOSTICS TEST ENTRY
TO INITIATE TESTS:
Set Blower motor ON HIGH
Set Mode position to Panel
Set Temperature to Cold (Both slide pots if equipped)
Depress WASH and REAR WIPER button simultaneously for 5 Seconds (Until all LED's light)
RESULTS:
All LED's will turn on for 5 Seconds
Calibration Test is running when REAR WIPER and INTERMITTENT are alternately flashing. Cooldown test is running if A/C and RECIRC are alternately flashing.
Acceptable results is REAR WIPER LED is the only LED flashing. Push Rear Wiper to exit.
After all tests have passed, Calibration Diagnostics and Cooldown can be run separately

AC & Rear wiper switch button indicator lights blink

The procedure for re-setting the HVAC control panel on a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan follows:
With ignition on but not running
1. turn knob to air vents
2. turn fan knob to ON
3. temperature setting on COLD (2X) {I have dual temp controls}
4. hold top(rear wiper) and bottom (rear wiper with wash) buttons pressing down together until all the buttons cycle through (this will require 1 to 2 minutes of continuous pressing)
I learned this from a very helpful local Dodge service adviser

Had the same thing in a Dodge Caravan.

There is a self diagnostic that can be performed to reset the lights. This occurs when ever there is a loss of power (ie battery unplugged / replaced). To correct, run the self diagnostic. With the ac on high press and hold three buttons at the same time. Not sure which ones any longer but believe they were the three lower buttons on the left that are in a vertical line. If you do the correct ones, the system will begin to change the air flow to the floor and defrost and back again (you can release buttons when the light pattern changes or the air flow changes). Once complete the light will be off and back to normal
I used to have this printed out but I no longer have the van. I searched for the problem and they suggested holding the rear wiper on and the rear wash button with the ac on full stating that it would run the diagnostic. I could have sworn it was three buttons but try a few combinations and you should run across it.
