Brake light failure ford galaxy

I have a v reg 2.3 galaxy with no brake lights.
the system check on the dash does not extinguish on pressing the brake pedal and the b.lights do not work. fuse fine replaced anyway.bulbs fine replaced anyway. The side light element in the bulb illuminates but the second filament ie the brakes does not in either bulb.
there appears to be two compression switches on the brake pedal. i suspect one disengages the dash brake check and the other controls the illumination of the brake bulbs. is this correct? they both appear fine all wires secured.

i have just bought a 2000 2.3 galaxy which has the exact same problem as you describe. Did you get to the bottom of the problem? was it the switch?

The ABS light came on now there is some noise under the hood, even with the key off.

You have a Malfunction in the ABS Braking System
You already know that, because you got a light on the dash
It is the same proceedure everyone is familar with, for the
last 30 years. Any light on dash, means a possible system
failure (govt mandated emission lights) You have it checked
for codes and repaired, as soon as possible.

Dash brake light on Parking brake is off

If the parking brakes are offf but you are getting an indication of the brake light then checck on
1. Low brake fluid levels, failure of master cylinder/wheel cylinder.
2. failrue of the park brake switch-- shorted or not released.
3. failure of the fluid level sensor.

Check these out before your travel.

Tail lights, stop lights, dash lights and turn lights won't work. Was OK then stopped. Don't see any fuses for them. What happened and how do I fix the problem? Have a 1967 Galaxie hardtop that I have...

lets break down the symtoms
BRAKE LAMPS
brake lamp stop switch should be powered at all times
locate stop lamp switch ( should be 2 prong Switch located on brake pedel assembly)
jumper 2 prongs together with paperclip
do brake lamps come on? if not
check fusable links (wires that are ment to melt if a short occures)
located on supply side of starter soleniod under hood near battery on inner fender.
if melted you must locate and repair short prior to replacing the fusible link

I have a r reg, 2.8 v6 automatic ford galaxy. Gear lever is stuck in park or neutral when the engine is started. How do i solve this problem?

your gearstick button is governed by your brake pedal signal. check your brake lights ? take off your brake pedal light switch and turn it around then plug the two wires back on (the wrong way round). www.fgoc.co.uk

Have a Ford Galaxy '52' reg - dashboard / radio lights have started to flicker as well as a crackling sound from the dimmer control if on full illumination, and a clicking sound from inside rear passenger...

Hi it sounds like the dimmer switch has had it, remove the dimmer and connect the 2 wires from it together if the dash lights stay on then thats the issue.

I dont think the rear window is related, most likely the motor in the door has gone or the mechainsim is to tight you will need to remove the door trim to inspcet it, can you still here the motor? if so then the fault is mechanical and not electrical.

Hope this helps

Turn signal and brake light problem

Had the exact problem on my 98 ranger 2wd reg cab stepside with the 2.5l 4 banger. Anytime I pressed the brake my passenger side turn signal would light up solid on the dash and the lights outside. I pulled both rear lights and both headlights and turn signals to check for corrosion/loose wires. Nothing. I checked and cleaned all my grounds and fuses. Nothing. Not until I followed my rear taillights wire harness did I find the problem. The two taillights are connected to each other via wire harness. My truck had the harness split with an adapter for trailer brakes. This harness was the problem. It is located under the rear bumper by the spare tire. Simply disconnect two harness plugs going into each side and remove it. Then connect the two plugs to each other. Problem solved.

Brake-light / side-light electrical problem

follow the light my son..stay away from the switches and relays...your solution lies in the powers/grounds at the chassis /bulb areas...the grounded power to the front bulb is causing brakes to go on..(they are ground actuated )....so you are closer than ever to solving this ..go back to each location making sure that they are clean , grounding to chassis and getting power... the gremlin will go away when ALL are power/ground happy
