92 ram 250 electrical

Battery discharging (can see spark when removing cable from battery) even when all fuses have been pulled. Randomly will not start. Suspect fuel relay. But book does not show which relay goes to what. Four to choose from. aAnyone know how to identify the relays?

The fuel relay is identified in the wiring diagrams, but I'm not sure if it will help you figure out which relay is which.

wiring diagrams for a lot of vehicles (but not all!)
go to autozone . com
repair info (on the left)
vehicle repair guides (center panel)
put in your vehicle info
select chassis electrical
then wiring diagrams (on the right, bottom of the list)
I looked at the page for Fig 9 and its there, but the it may be too generalized to be of use,

hope this helps.

Electric drain on the system kills the battery, what could it be?

Check the visors also. But you need to put a test light between the battery cable and close the door latch pull 1 fuse at a time till light goes out that will be the circuit you need to check and narrow down. If you are not familiar with this you can incorrectly test easily

The battery on the 92' dode van keeps dying and it is a new battery, why is this happening?

If your battery is being drained while the van is not in use, then you have a short in the electrical system, and it should be checked by an auto electrical shop. If the problem is occurring while being driven, then you probably are not getting enough current from the alternator, and that will have to be replaced. I hope this helps.

I have 2005 Chrysler Voyager - battery flattens overnight, and will not start. I am doing short journeys which I guess does not help. Nearly new battery, charging system good, and nothing apparently using...

The battery will not discharge unless there is a drain. When the car is shut down disconnect the negative battery terminal. Put a DC ammeter between (in series) the battery negative terminal and the disconnected cable. The drain due to electric clock and immobiliser circuit will be in the order of 30mA (0.03 Amps). Remove each fuse in turn and note any drops in the current drawn. At some point you will encounter a fuse which when removed drops the current drain, it is this particular circuit that is primarily the cause of the battery discharging and it will need closer inspection to detect the fault within it. If you can leave this fuse out to prevent battery discharge.

remove and, clean your battery cable clamps then retighten and, test.
If your battery is too discharged "jump" it using jumper cables and, another car.

Have a 01 Tahoe with new red top and fairly new alternator. It charges at about 14v. But if I leave the Tahoe set for a week, it wont start.Where do I look for a voltage leak. The Tahoe seems to be working...

Start with the basics; Is the reason the car does not start is that the battery is discharged after a week of sitting or a case that it won't start without a jump although the battery is still good. If the car just does not start after sitting then try the following; Pull the negative battery cable and let the car sit overnight. Reconnect the cable in the morning and see if it starts. If it does then you are looking for something that is pulling current from the battery. Could be lots of things; light on in the glove box or trunk, a short in a wire, etc. You can try pulling a couple of fuses each evening and in the morning, replace the fuses and see if the car will start after sitting. If it continues to discharge the battery then try another set of fuses. The day it starts after sitting then you have narrowed the electrical system that is discharging your battery. Focus on those systems

What is the best way to locate an electical short

I guess if you can't locate a light that is staying on, in the trunk, or a tail light or something, you could pull fuses. For example: take your negative battery cable off the battery post, and then touch it lightly back to the post. It will spark if there is something still on. Now, pull the fuse for the heater, for example, and then touch the battery cable to the post again. If the spark is reduced, you have found the culpret. If not, pull another fuse, and repeat.
You will most likely have a small spark when you touch the post back on, even when everything is normal. but it should be very small.
If you don't find anything this way, the problem is likely the starter solenoid.

There should be a fusible link in that circuit.

When the hood made contact with the battery terminals a discharge occurred then probably the battery is dying, take it to AutoZone, OReilly or any autocare shop they will check it for free and they will diagnostic if you need to replace it.

Good look!

Mitsubishi lancer glx 2003 battery discharge

If you disconnect the ground terminal of the battery can you see any sparks if you touch cable to the - terminal?

If you can, go to the fuse panel by the drivers left knee and remove the fuses one at a time. Each time you remove a fuse touch the battery cable to the - terminal and see if you have a spark.
Doing this will enable you to find the circuit that is drawing the current from the battery.

Hope this helps Good Luck Loringh PS Please leave a rating thks
