Question about 2001 Cadillac DeVille
How to take out ignition lock cylinder in 2001 Cadillac deville without key turning
Talking about pulling the air bag, removing the clock spring,
special tools for the lock plate, then it gets easy.
Disconnect the batt. for like 20 min to kill the air bag, remove the bag ,then the wheel,(with the puller you rented),the tool to remove the clip for the lock plate come next( also rented from Auto Zone or such like)
The tumbler is held in with a pin that unscrews ,then the cyl. just slides out.

Try this pull the steering wheel as far to the left as possible and while it is in this position try to insert key. Sometimes the steering wheel lock will get in a bind and prevent the key from being inserted. Hope this helps!!!

If you're saying it turnes over but doesn't start I think of two things. If it is not getting power to the spark plugs I think it is the ignition module inside the distributor(small black box on bottom inside). If it is getting power to the spark plugs I would check the fuel pressure. If no or little fuel then fuel filter and or the fuel pump.

It should have Turned off with the Insert of the Newly Programmed Key. If Not, It may need a Computer Reset. You Can try Pulling the ECM Fuse for 5 Min. to Reset the Computer. If this does not work, Try disconnecting the Battery and Reconnecting. Make sure that you have a RadioCode before Disconnecting the Battery Though. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
