Question about 2002 Ford Taurus

1 Answer

Blower Earlier this year I had the car flused and new anti freeze put in, a new thermostat, heater core flushed, and a blower resistor replaces. Everything worked fine for the few times I used it, now the blower won't work at all. This happened a couple weeks ago where the blower didn't work and then it did and now it doesn't again. Also, not enough heat when it does work. Don't know what to do. Help and thanks. Helen

Well if the blower resistor was replaced, it was probably because the blower was drawing too much power so you probably burnt it again and so the resistor will need to replaced and the blower should be replaced as well to help prevent further problems. There is a slight chance that it is a problem with the wiring but most of the time the blower is needing replacement since the resistor is going bad. Usually the blower will work on high still if the resistor burns out. If you are a do it yourself person, then I would go that route and buy the parts from Ford and maybe get a Haynes or Chilton manual for help with the installation and further problems that you may have.

95 caprice heater not blowing hot air, hissing when off. blower is working at all levels. not a sign of the resistor going out. just isnt blowing any heat. not losing any coolant.

The thermostat could be stuck open or the heater core or radiator could be clogged or it could be a faulty heater control valve.I would flush the coolant sytem out with prestone super flush and put a new thermostat in it first.

Heater not putting out hot air like it should

Put in a low temp themostat and see if this helps. Also check your mix on your antifreeze. Make sure it is 50/50 or what ever the dealer recommends.

My truck wont blow out any hot air, just cold. i put a new radiator and thermostat in it. it is full of anti freeze

Try removing the Heater hoses from heater tubes(be careful not to break heater tubes off) then back flush heater core with garden hose(Don't use a lot of pressure). Jell from antifreeze builds up in the heater core and blocks the coolant flow. If it is easier, remove the heater hoses from the engine, that is safer. Back flush the heater from the hoses. To Back Flush (The hose coming from the water pump is the inlet)(Hose going to Manifold is outlet) Back flush outlet hose! To much water pressure may cause damage to heater core!!!! Do Not ues AIR!!!!

Bad odor (Wire sheathing?) from vents when fan is on. We definitely have an intermittant (3 or 4 times in past year) driver side actuator problem. Cannot tell if odor is coming from all vents or not....

the heater core is bad it could be leaking and thats what the smell is coming from. you only smell it when the heat is on is because air flows throught the heater core to warm it by the hot anti freeze that flows through the heater core see if you anti freeze resivoir is low.

Car will only have sometimes and i have replaced

If the car is not providing heat and thermostat is good, then your problem is a faulty heater core. Sometimes when heat cores wear out, they sometimes give off an anti-freeze smell.
