Question about 1999 GMC Sonoma
I have tried to do this and it is stuck or something.i worked 2 hours and to no avail

Sounds like the linkage inside the door has come loose. you can get a tool for removing the door panel (its a funny looking screwdriver/pry tool) and remove and trim screws to check and it should only take you about 10-15 minutes. the latch or lever could also be jammed. either way its an easy fix. hope this helps
