SOURCE: 96 Ford Taurus no turn signals or hazards

Take the turn signal lever and jiggle it, a lot. If they start working, the switch is bad. You can also turn on the hazards and take hold of the button and push it left , right , forward and back and see if they start working. If so, replace the turn signal/ hazard switch.

There is a turn signal/flasher relay that has probably died. They are usually plugged into the cars fuse box. Get a new one from a dealer - they are cheap enough.

I do not know for sure, but it sounds like you have a short some where. You might want to start looking for bare wires around that tail light that first started giving you all of the problems. I hope this helps you solve the problem

In my 1996 Ford Contour, my hazards work but my turn signals do not. Can you help?

The hazard fuse and the turn fuse are different ones the turn flasher is different than the hasard flasher and the hasard button is the flasher. You may have to play with the switch a bunch to get it to work and it may only work a few times and quit even after doing this. Fuses good and you get it to work just once by a new switch and yor back in bussness

could be the brake pedal switch itself has dropped below or worn down casing an insufficient connection look at the pedal and see if it makes contact with the switch the lights all function through the turn signal lever these days with the wipers the cruise-control etc it may also be a break in the line from wear especially if you have tilt wheel ....

Both front and rear turn signals stopped working

Your turn signal flasher needs to be replaced (the hazard flasher is separate unit). Your owners manual should have the location of the turn signal flasher (usually on the fuse block under the dash).

2000 ford windstar, directionals both not working, hazards work f

turn signal flasher module or turn signal switch. I usuall try to wiggle teh column switch or move it slowly up and down, back and forth to help determine if it has a bad contact. if i cant get a failure (or turn signal) that way I begin the testing at the base of the column. the flasher module is a common failure on those and isnt unreasonably priced. if i had no diagnostic procedure i would try that first. oh yea, try turning the hazards on and off rapidly several times. the signal goes through the four way switch.

97 FORD CONTOR NO BRAKE LIGHTS INSIDE REAR WINDOW BRAKE LIGHT WORKS,SIGNALS WORK EMEGENCY WORKS TOO ,BUT NO BRAKE LIGHTS. HELP!

If there is no fuse that is blown, then according to wiring diagrams on autozone.com repair info link it must be the combination switch: http://econtent.autozone.com:24991/znetrgs/repair_guide_content/en_us/images//0900c152/80/0a/8d/31//large/0900c152800a8d31.gif

My mother's brake lights (1996 Ford Contour) were not working and it was the combination switch. The combination switch is an assembly by the wheel, you use it to give turn signals, high beam, hazard lights and apparently the 'smart' Ford designers linked the rear brake lights to it. Could be a contact that is oxidized. I repaired mine. I may have one lying around. You can get this from a junk yard. I believe it is pretty simple to remove.
