If it's an automatic, the gearshift must be in PARK before the key can be removed from the ignition.

What do I do when the key ignition started is stuck

Try turning the steering wheel and jiggling the key and lock back and forth while gently applying the brake pedal. The gearshift lever may also be the problem. Try moving it slightly while turning the key. Make sure you jiggle towards the off position or your starter might catch and spin.

My acura tl 2003 is stuck in park

Your gearshift has a "solinoid" that keeps the gearshift in park until criteria is met..I.e. Brake is engaged, seatbelts etc. It's my guess you have an issue where that solinoid is not getting power or has gone def. If you have access to a test light, pop up the cover where the shifter is turn on the key step on brake and check power. If there is none your issue may be a bad brake or possible neutral safety switch. If you have power then the solinoid is the culprit.

Could not get my 2005 chrysler pacifica out of park. took apart console and replaced pink thing. Now it is still stuck unless i push pink thing fowadr with a screwdriver and press brake pedal at same...

I can only add that you should check your Brakelights to see if they are working. You may have worked on the wrong part.

They use a safety switch usually on the Brake pedal lever and it unlocks the circuit. If you do not get a Brakelight signal, the gearshift will stay in Park.

This interlock is a Trilogy: Brakes, gearshift, and Ignition switch. They are adjusted or "timed" to free up or lock when all 3 are in sync. The ignition switch is suppose to give you trouble when the other items are malfunctioning.

Check your Brakelights, then fix or align that switch, and then you may have to try to align what you fooled with.

Please rate my info.

The car starts, but the gearshift wont move from park

Usually a problem with the brake switch or the solenoid that locks the shifter in park.
That circuit would need to be tested.

I own a 2001 Ford Escape and when I put the key into the ignition it wont turn, so I can't start the car! How do I fix this problem?

There are a couple of things you can try. Check under the dash at the foot pedal for the brake. There are switches there which sometimes can get hit by feet and broken or thrown out of their holders. These switches are linked to the gearshift, ignition switch, and steering wheel.

The steering wheel or gearshift lever can bind the lock cylinder. You may have a stuck shift button or the shifter or steering wheel may need to be "wiggled" to line up the interlocks. This would be done while one hand attempts to turn the keyswitch and the other hand "wiggles" the steering wheel or gearshift.

The lock cylinder can be bad within the switch housing. The switch housing may be adjustable and the adjustment holddown screw may have slipped. You may need to change the Ignition switch. The switch is connected by cable or rod to parts under the dash.

I listed the above things to check in the most frequent order. The problem is the manufacturers make a mess of things by connecting the controls with rods and cables that will eventually jam when one of four things slip out of position. I hope you find my solution very helpful.

Ignition appears to be stuck...please help..

Check your gearshift position. There are interlocks for the Ignition both with the Brake pedal, the steering wheel, and the gearshift. With your gearshift, if you have an Automatic, there is a trigger to press so the Shifter will move. If the trigger is stuck into the fixture the Key will not come out or the Ignition switch may not turn.

With the steering wheel, sometimes there is pressure from how the front tires where left when the car was parked. The steering assembly is pinched and must be moved to the side that is jammed so the Ignition Key will turn.

The Brake pedal, there are switches under the dash at the top of the brake pedal lever. These must align to let the gearshift move which in turn may free the Keyswitch. They get hit by feet frequently and may need to be replaced or repositioned.

Make sure you are using the right set of Keys and it is possible for the Ignition switch to break inside.

I hope this helps you.
