If it was mine, i'd go to an auto wrecker and get a whole different heat control. A new one is likely way overpriced.

I started having coolant smoke coming in my two middle heater vents. It is inconsistent, I still have heat and my radiator is holding fluid. Don't want to do a flush in case it is the heater core.

Whisps of sweet smelling smoke /steam is most likely a heater core issue. There is a product on the market called IRON TITE that will plug any leak in a heater core and will not compromise the cooling system by plugging.

How to reset climate control for the heater and ac on a 1996 buick rivera

Did you check to see if coolant is getting to the heater core? Most reset to default when the battery has been disconnected.

Ford f450 shuts down while driving and wont start, whats the problem

You need to check for spark at one or more of the spark plugs, and best time to check is when it fails to start after stalling. That's the ideal time to spot an ignition system failure. Most of the time stalling is caused by loss of spark (ignition system) or loss of gas.

Go to an auto parts store and buy an inexpensive spark tester. Then you can check the ignition system when it won't start. Very simple: strong blue spark=good ignition- problem may be gas related. Weak, inconsistent, or no spark-ignition system malfunction-the source of your problem. A look at a wiring diagram would be helpful, a repair manual would show some tests to perform.

You didn't state the year, but especially if it is OBD2 (all 1996 models and later), you should check for trouble codes. Most parts stores do scans for free.

2000 honda accord heater mode ? auto mode works, defrost mode does not

Is the a/c compressor turning on? When you turn the defroster on, the a/c compressor turns on to help remove moisture from the interior of the vehicle which in turns clears the fogging from the windows. If the a/c doesn't work, the defroster won't either.

Heat/Cool gauge fluctuates inconsistently

You might check the coolant level after the engine cools,if it's low add 50/50 mixture of coolant and water. Keep an eye on the level to see if it happens again. You might have a small leak in the system. Good luck

WHen we use the auto car starter, it blows cold air, and a lot of it. Its nearing the winter here in New England and I need to know how to set up the starter to blow warm air. Any ideas?

Start the vehcle and let it warm up then set all the controls to heater? Then turn off the car. Use the remote start to start the vehicle and check the controls are still set to heat mode.
