Ford Expedition rear brake brake replacement

A brake repair shop told my daughter that when they replace the rear brakes pads on her Ford Expedition it is also necessary to replace the rotors because "the rear brakes on Expeditions are soft". Is this there any truth to this, or are they just trying to get her to pay for additional work and parts?

The rear pads are usualy harder than the front and the harder the pads the more wear there is on the rotors Unless the rotors were worn to the point of replacement they could have had them skimmed.Being soft doesnt make much sense.Have an 03 ba falcon and only replaced our rotors after doing 125000ks The expidition is a similar beast that used the same brake system.Get the rotors skimmed and go to a slightly softer pad to extend rotor life

What kind of brakes would I need for my 2005 Ford Expedition, front and rear?

Depending on your driving needs and habits...the best brake pads for most applications today are the ceramic pads...these are the quietest, and produce the least amount of brake dust...(dirty black soot on your front wheels...the standard pads are semi-metallic...not as clean or quiet as the ceramic...My personal choice is the Wagner brand...used by many brake shops due to their consistency and fewer "be backs" by complaints...If Wagner does not make a ceramic set for your Expedition, I have used the O'Reilly Auto Parts ceramic pads as well. Your research should help to eliminate any noisy or poor performance products...Yes, there is a huge difference in performance...(the low cost semi-metallic pads have many side effects. Hope this helps.

Replacing rear brakes pads on a 2008 exp. how do i get the new pads in?

Take a large pair of channel locks and squeeze the back brake pad to the back. It will cause the caliper back to where you can get the pads in.

How to replace rear brakes on a 2007 ford expedition having difficulty installing new pads on caliper

I had the same problem ... seemed the assembly was too thick to fit back in. I ended up nipping off the end hook (with a grinder) of one of the pads so it could slide in. Once in, the pad can't come out anyway.

What tools do you need to replace the rear caliper brakes on a for expedition xlt 2006

Standard repair tools except for a rear caliper compression tool. This is needed because rear calipers screw in due to parking brake.

2000 ford expedition emergancy brake keeps not working. I get it fixed and a couple of weeks later it isn't working again. Mechanic says t has something to do with the cable keeps coming out of it's track....

I checked for a TSB and there isn't one for this issue. I have not heard of it either. If it were mine, I just wouldn't use it. Which cable? Ay park brake or under body?
