This is a very common issue, either the ground at the back of the lighter socket is pulled off, or more likely the socket is defective, they are very easy to change, u can use a generic replacement from any parts store, the factory part will be at least 2X as much..

make sure you check the fuse box under the hood.
i had the same problem with my 03 gagt and thats what it was.
check the owners manual and find out which one it is for sure

You can look inside the socket and see two grooves in it. You need to remove the fuse, and then reach inside with two small flat head screw drivers at the same time and push the tabs out while pulling on the socket. This is not easy to do, and I would suggest taking to a dealer for removal due to they have a special tool that clicks into place and pulls it out easily.
