Question about 2002 Audi A4

2002 A4 Steering noise

There was noise from the steering during turns at low speeds. I took it to the local mechanic and told me that the rack and pinoin needs to be changed and I need to take it to the dealer. He put greese to temporarily fix the problem. It had been few months, and there is no noise since then.

Is this a seroius problem that needs a permanent fix or does the temporary do the job?

The old saying, " If it ain't broke don't try to fix it!" Just keep an eye on tire wear and strange noises. It should never leave you broke down. Frankster016

Do you mean hard to steer your steering wheel?
If you have a noise when you are turning your steering wheel, you may have low power steering fluid. Add power steering fluid into your power steering fluid reservoir to the level required (check with your manual book). Make sure you get the right power steering fluid for Audi A4. Hope it will help
