This filter should prime in seconds! My guess is that it ran very low on gas, this clogged the filter and ruined the fuel pump. Sorry for the bad news. Frankster016

Hello! How was I to know it was a diesel?? The best way to bleed the injectors is to loosen about 3 lines at the injectors, crank the engine...... No you sort it out! Why should I help when you get nasty? Frankster016

Just had my car filters changed now it won'tstart

If fuel filter has been changed suspect lack of fuel to engine, Diesels sometimes have a manual priming pump to over come this problem, the cars diesel pump will not easily self prime., although some GM engines are designed like this. Always fill fuel filter bowl with clean diesel when re assembling. A after market manual pump with non-return valve is often fitted as an addition to overcome this difficulty.

How do you prime the diesel when you have changed the fuel filter 2005 rodeo turbo diesel?????

fuel filter assembly is fitted with a prime pump. you can use it to prime the fuel. another way is to loosen each line of the injectors to make lose the trapped air.

Must use starting fluid in the morning, after that it will start all day. What is the problem?

I would try replacing the fuel filter it could be clogged and then when you prime it with starter fluid it gives it enough pull to allow fuel to flow. when engine is cold fuel can gel so when the vehicle is warm it allows fuel to flow easy allowing it to start. that is just one of many things it could be but if you haven't changed filter in a while it cant hurt to change it and who knows that might be the problem if not you have a nice clean fuel filter anyway. If you have the diesel it pays to keep the fuel filter clean because diesel fuel will gel quicker than gasoline .

Changed fuel filter on jag x type diesel do i have to prime as no fuel arriving now and will not start?

The system needs to be primed. Most cars just to be turned over several times for the fuel to work it's way back to fuel rail. If you cant fill the filter with fuel before installing it you may be able to crack your inctor lines just enough to allow a small amount of fuel to be released while you have someone crank the engine. do each cylinder one at a time. be sure to tighten each line after you get a little fuel out of it. that would be the only way i know. i was a heavy equipment mechanic assistant and thats how we have to do them.
