Check it manually with a gauge it is possible the engine you bought from scrapyard is faulty ,or hopefullly just a faulty oil light switch or damaged wiring ,now if you have a rubber cover over the oil light switch make sure it isnt full of oil from a leaky switch behind the rubber boot as this will throw the oil light on .

SOURCE: My falcon el 1998 was

Hi

Almost all stalling problems stem from poor fuel-gas mixture, out-of-tune fuel injection or fuel contaminants.

The main suspects in your case are ...

#1. Crankshaft position sensor
#2. Ignition coil
#3. Ignition control module (under the coil)

However remove the intake air hose to physically see the throttle plate and see if it is covered with a blackish residue on the throttle plate and in the throttle bore and I would clean it out with some aerosol carb claener and clean off both sides of the throttle plate also. This is a very common problem with fuel injected engines and may need to be repeated several times in order to get all the residue cleaned off. Even spraying the cleaner into the air cleaner assembly with the engine running numerous times is also a good idea as it helps to keep this residue from building up.

It is possible that the oxygen sensor is also fouled with carbon and can be causing your stalling problem and can be removed and cleaned or replaced.

How to change transmission oil on BA falcon

Ther was a model falcon that didn\'t allow to change the tranny oil outside of the ford shop, There was no filler hole Ford\'s argument was that it prevented owners filling the tranny with wrong oil/ excess oil and ather dumb excuses. While you can remove the pan and clean up the mess filling became a problem as the oil had to be pumped in with the engine running. A real pain for the local mechanic. My suggestion is to take it to a tranny shop for detailed explanation on how to do it. Ford dropped the idea in the next model.

Ford Falcon 1997 oil light sometimes comes on for a couple of minutes. Checked oil, and all good!

In order to troubleshoot this problem correctly, you need to clean the motor first.

An intermittent/shorting oil sending unit is the source of the problem.

You need to make sure it's not an oil leak into the oil sending unit first.

After you clean the motor then look for oil leak.

Also make sure the wire from the oil sending unit wire is not touching the engine block.

Oil sending unit is cheap. It's an easy job.

Change it at your next oil change.

Ford el falcon stalls on idle

don't laugh but there is a hose that runs from the inlet manifold to the mapping sensor. mine had a split in it at the motor end made the engine think it needed more fuel. replaced the hose no more problem
