2001 Chrysler Sebring. Wipers do not work on high. What is the likely problem?

Hi John, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair!

The most likely cause for the wipers not working on high speed would be the wiper switch itself. BUT, other things can cause this issue as well. The high speed in the motor can be bad. Hope this helps and if you should find the time please visit my auto repair website here:

Wiper arm loose tighten

I believe your diagnosis is correct, the wiper assembly is spinning, and not making a good connection with the wiper arm socket. The wiper arm socket has grooves in it that match up with grooves on the wiper assembly. If the grooves on the wiper arm are worn down, then the assembly can't 'grab' the wiper arm socket. Take off the wiper arm to inspect the socket. There is probably a retainer clip holding the arm in place. You may get some help from Advance Auto or Auto Zone.

everyone will tell you that the linkage/transmission will need to be replaced but it doesn't,,most of the time its a bushing and O'Rielly's auto parts sells a "WIPER LINKAGE BUSHING ASSORTMENT" part# 49447 and it sells for about $5 bucks. Its fits tight and took a few minutes to install but its worth the trouble to save about $100

The windshield wiper does not clean the entire windshield. It misses the center. I have replaced the wiper blade. Is there an adjustment for that?

It sounds like you are using the wrong length wiper blades for that vehicle.

Have an auto parts store look up the wiper blades according to the application of your vehicle (the auto part store will tell you the length), and then check to see if the wiper blades that are on your vehicle are actually the same length as what the auto part store said should be on the vehicle.

It is not unusual to find the wrong size wiper blades on those vans. (Having a 20" wiper blade when the application calls for a 22" wiper blade)

Wipers wont move on 2001 caravan

There's a few things that could be wrong. The wiper motor may be turning but the gears inside of the wiper arms may be stripped. This will require replacing the wiper module with the motor and gears together (mechanic would be the best option).

Another possibility is that a nut came loose that holds the wiper motor output to the wiper arms, causing the wipers to not move.

If you'd like to try to do the work yourself, check out a Chilton or Haynes manual for your specific vehicle (make, model, and year) at the library or you can buy one at a local auto parts store (Autozone, Pepboys, Advance Auto, etc.) or online from or

Good luck and I hope I could help you get started. Don't forget to rate! Thank you!
