Question about 1999 Isuzu Trooper
I have just had the engine in this truck replaced as the last one overheated, I just picked it up from the garage yesterday and I have noticed that the wee sign on the dashboard that indicates that the truck is in 4WD stays on, I have tried to put it in and out of 4WD but the light wont go out The truck isnt actually in 4WD but the light stays on. Could this just be because a wire or something has been left off during the engine replacement or is it something worse, should I carry on driving or not, I cannot contact the garage who replaced the engine as they are closed for the next couple of days. your help on this would be very much appreciated. many thanks.
Check your cv (constant velocity joint) , It may have a big clearance which is the source of the noise when turning left or right and when 4wd is engage. Juts like front wheel drive cars, if the cv joint is with clearance it will tend to sound in the left or right turns. It is not exactly clicking sound , nmore like knocking sound , low in pitch, but not heavy.

The upper intake gaskets may be leaking. They are made of plastic and metal and will leak air. Do not remove the cover on very top of manifold when changing.

Change your gearbox oil, and clean out the oil strainer.
( On some models, you have to remove the gearbox oil pan to clean the strainer )
