I have a 1984 Toyota Carib Sprinter 4wd wagon (this is a Toyota Tercel in the States). I'm trying to replace the fuel filter, but don't know how to depressurize the fuel system on this vehicle.

Don't worry about soon as you loosen the fuel filter clamp the pressure will go away. It's not that high. Just wrap a rag around the connection.
You can also pull the fuel pump fuze with the engine running...when engine stops the system is depressurized.
If it has a mechanical fuel pump (?) there will be very little pressure if any in the system.

How do I remove a fuel pressure regulator on a 2002 dodge caravan.

Before doing ANYTHING, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you depressurize the fuel system, and be sure the engine is COLD COLD COLD before removing any lines.
The fuel pressure regulator should have one vacuum line and three fuel lines connected to it. (Some have an electrical connector instead of the vacuum line, but same idea.)
AFTER DEPRESSURIZING THE SYSTEM, with engine COLD, carefully disconnect the vacuum line (or electrical connector), then SLOWLY loosten and remove all three fuel lines, noting how they are connected. Replace all grommets & gaskets with new, then Install the fuel lines to the new regulator, EXACTLY as they were on the original, tightening the fittings to torque specifications provided for your vehicle and engine. Reconnect the vacuum (or electrical) connection, then repressurize the fuel system WITHOUT STARTING THE VEHICLE. With the ignition ON, watch for any sign of leaks. If there are ANY signs of leaks, stop them before starting the vehicle. DO NOT START THE VEHICLE IF THERE ARE ANY LEAKS, AS THERE IS A DANGER OF STARTING AN ENGINE FIRE.
Check for proper fuel rail pressure, and be certain to re-check your work within 100 miles to assure that there are NO LEAKS.
If you are unfamiliar with depressurizing or repressurizing a fuel injection system, PLEASE REFER THE WORK TO A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN..

Depressurize fuel system

On the top of the intake manifold you will find the fuel rail. It receives fuel from pump and distributes it to the individual injectors. On the rail you will find a cap, resembling a tire valve cap. Remove the cap & depress the schaeder valve,( tire valve), to relieve the fuel pressure.

Replacing the Fuel Filter and need to know how to depressurize the fuel system. Help. I have heard that there is a banjo bolt on the fuel rail and to pull the fuse for the fuel pump. Which one is the best...

The easy way is after you remove the fuse for the fuel pump start the vehicle and let it run til it dies. Then just turn the key off and you have depressurized the fuel system.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Hello, do I need to depressurized the fuel system on my 1990 pathfinder before i change the fuel filter and if so,how? thank you. Sorry about my English.

if you can find it, take the fuel pump relay out and try to start it up. it may start and stall. thats ok, OR just loosen the pipe at the filter slowly, the gas will leak out, then it will be ok to remove the filter.

Fuel pump has gotten noisey all of a sudden

not a beginner thing to do
fuel in new cars under lots of pressure, can result in serious injury (death?) if not done right
fuel can hit with such force it can inject itself right through your skin into your body
have to depressurize the system, etc.
depending on vehicle, fuel pump can be in variety of locations
of course gas is hazard too with fumes, fire, etc.
if still determined to do, please use caution, wear goggles, be careful to depressurize fuel system first. be sure to disconnect battery first. put safety first, especially when working with fuel.
