Seems like a low injector control pressure situation. You may see plenty of oil pressure on the gauge but the high pressure oil that opens the injectors is probably passing through a blown STC fitting at the back of the high pressure pump or something of that nature. Check for smoke out the tail pipe, if there's smoke, I could be wrong. If you checked the glow plugs (make sure you have 12 comming and going through the relay, just because it clicks does not mean it's working) than you more than likely have compression, the last thing you need is fuel. To get fuel you need high pressure oil. Your truck should have an ICP sensor on the right valve cover toward the front. You can back probe or make a breakout harness to pins... ok I don't know what two pins but there is only three. Anyway backprobe the sensor and see if you have more than .82V while cranking. If you do not, go to the IPR (injection pressure regulator) which is behind and below the turbo. It is a round solenoid valve sticking out of the high pressure oil pump. This valve will have the connector pointing down and toward the back of the motor in it's "weather protecting" position. You can rotate this valve by hand so the connector is easier to get to but don't force it and break it. You will then need to apply 12V and a ground to this valve. Do not supply the voltage for more than 120 seconds though or you could burn the valve up. with 12V to the valve see if it will start. If it will you may have a power supply problem to the valve. If none of this helps let me know, the rest of the troubleshooting is pretty involved.

I would like to clarify, and somewhat solve this issue. First of all the dealer is right about the regen. If the truck is going into regen and did not finish, then it will do the regen again and again and this excessive regen will cause fuel in the oil. Unfortunatly Ford did not add a parked Regen switch (too complicated for some users) so you will have to drive untill the regen light goes out. I know it's inconventant but that's part of the hassel you need to go through because Al Gore invented the internet and then warned us all about global warming. Anyway there are some other causes including porous cylander heads (this will show up in low mileage vehicles only), HP Fuel pumps, fuel sensors, injectors, lines, etc. etc. Since you both seem to have low mileage ask the Ford Dealer about the porous cyl heads and watch his face go blank. Is smoke comes out of his ears make sure his DPF isn't clogged and ask him if he needs to Regen. then tell him he has to run 30 mintues weither he likes it or not or he will get fuel in his oil. By the way you may also need to ask about an updated ECM reflash which could help this issue. Have a nice day.

Bad sensor, or fuel pump or fuel filter, on and on. I recommend you take it buy your favorite auto parts store, ask them to read ECU error codes. Any chance this is a diesel? If so your Glow plug system is not working right.

Is this a diesel or gas vehicle ? and what engine does it have ? They all have different type of systems . Diesels have a low pressure and high pressure pump and IPC and IPR valves . Gas vehicles have different controls ,( FPDM ) fuel pump driver module that is controlled by the engine computer ,with the help of a fuel rail pressure sensor. My 2005 F150 will not stay running when I slow to a stop or near stop. Where should I look first?


I do not see that the "check engine" light is on. There are some known problems around the 2004-2005 Models that are called "Cam Phasers".

These parts are in the Ford 4.6L and 5.4L V-8's. Basically, each half of the engine has its' own camshaft and Phaser. By using oil pressure, these Phasers are suppose to contract and expand uniformally to sync the valve timing. But one side or the other may get dirty. This means the timing on one side of the engine is different than the other. In essence the engine is binding up internally and that is why it stalls at low RPM.

You need to see a Ford Dealer about testing this defect. For a time, Warranty was extended to about 7 Years and ? number of miles. Even the shortcuts to this repair are expensive.

There can be other causes for your problem of stalling. The ISC solenoid/motor in the Intake manifold could be dirty and jamming. But your possible defects are limited by the lack of a "check light" so the problem would have to be in things the check light does not monitor. A dirty fuel filter, low fuel pressure, a vacuum leak, are the types of unmonitored things that can cause stalling.

I hope my solution is helpful. If your truck engine sounds like a Diesel below 2000 RPM and then gets quiet at higher rpm, it points to Cam Phasers.

Why does my ford f350 6.0 diesel start then shuts off and wont stay running.


I have a chevy c3500 with a 6.5 turbo diesel, the times that it has happened

to me was because of a dirty fuel filter or water, most diesel have a bleed off

valve to dissipate any accesss water in the fuel line, on my truck is located

on the right front side of the engine . you bleed it off when the engine is

turned off. good luck

I have a 2005 Ford F350 diesel with 6.0 powerstroke I have been having problems with a misfire I believe it is fuel injectors. Due to water in the fuel system. i started using diesel clean fuel injector...


Diesel clean will help, but it won't remove all the water in your fuel. Try some water dispersant fuel treatment as well.

I'm guessing your water in fuel light came on? It this happened for any length of time, your fuel water seperator sensor could of shorted out, this will cause a misfire, and will have to be replaced. There are several other things with the 6.0 that could be the problem, but i would start with this first. The back pressure control valve sticking and the pressure sensor out of calibration are also common problems on this engine.

the diesel engine is a 6.0L or a 6.4L? because the 6.0L don't use electronic throttle control. they control the demand of diesel threw the high pressure oil system they have a sensor call injector pressure regulator. this sensor is responsible of maintain the proper pressure in the high pressure oil system so that the engine could start . i also suggest you to check if it is any leak on the high pressure oil system or if the low pressure system is delivering the pressure required for the high pressure system to work properly. to do that you most have a scan tool. also you can check the pressure of the diesel pump that its in the chassis to eliminate the high pressure oil system as the cause of your concern. if u don't have the proper gauges to check the pressure of the diesel pump you could remove the cap of the small fuel filter that is next to the oil filter remove the filter and put the ignition switch in the on position and see in the container if you have a fast or slow filling. if you encounter that the filling is too slow then your problem is with the fuel diesel pump that is on the chassis this pump is called HFCM, Horizontal Fuel Control Module

Look for the fuel pump or fuel filter to cause the problem. The lacking power and the engine dieing after starting is caused from lack of correct fuel pressure. Hope this will help you.

F250 spins over well will not start


Sounds like a faulty crank sensor. Can also be caused by a faulty cam sensor.

Truck was running but just died while moving


It sounds like it has a high pressure oil problem. does the oil pressure gauge come up while cranking? does it start when cold and not when hot? any check engine light?
