Question about 1997 Acura CL

Open Question

Trying to bleed 97 Acura 3.0 CL power steering.

Disconnected hose from reservior bled fluid into pan. Added more fluid, started car but still full of air bubbles. Have repeated this process several times but still getting a lot of bubbles. Power steering still very loud with still a lot of bubbles. What could be causing so much air in the system? Thanks.

If they checked and that is your problem don't clean it change it pay once now and you will not have to pay to clean it and after 2-4 months you will need a new one.

back side of block under intake if its a 2.2 or a 2.3 if its a 3.0 its on the passenger side of engine bay if you turn the wheel you will be looking at it

The ABS light can be on for different reason.
sometimes a bad speed sensor on one of the wheels can trigger the ABS light.
The ABS module, or the entire braking sytem may be faulty, to find out there is need to test the ECU/ABS modules usinga code reader, and to inspect the braking system.

This indicates a problem with the anti-lock brake system, make sure fluid levels are correct, but it is likely that a sensor at one of the wheels has disconnected, causing the light to go on. If you have driven over road debris, snow, ice, etc. something may have damaged a sensor at one of the wheels. Jack up the car and support it to safely go underneath to inspect all 4 wheels at the back sides for damage.

Where is the bleed valve for a power steering box


Open the hood and check the level of the power-steering fluid by removing the power-steering reservoir cap. Add the correct fluid recommended in your owner's manual to bring the level up to the full mark. Be aware that fluid that looks foamy is an indication of air in the system. Replace the cap.
Locate the power-steering bleed valve on top of the steering box near the bottom of the engine bay. Follow the power-steering, high-pressure lines from the power-steering pump to the steering box if you have trouble locating it.
Push a 6-foot length of rubber hose onto the end of the bleed valve. Run the other end of the hose into a drain pan.
Start the engine. Loosen the bleed valve fitting slightly with an adjustable wrench in a counterclockwise direction. Turn the steering wheel all the way to its stop one way and then the other several times. Shut the engine off.
Close the bleed valve by tightening it with an adjustable wrench in a clockwise direction. Remove the power-steering reservoir cap, and add fluid to bring the level up to the full mark.
Observe the power-steering fluid that came out of the rubber hose into the drain pan. Repeat the above procedure if there are air bubbles in the fluid. Close the bleed valve and remove the rubber hose when there are no air bubbles in the fluid expelled from the bleed valve. Close the hood.

Power steering pump replacement


Your going to have noises and fluid drop when you first do this project there is air in the system have you turned the steering wheel several times left to right while running to bleed the air and re check fluid level?

Hello! There are power steering fluid in/out hoses but no vacuum lines...It sounds as if the pump needs to be bled of air or the belt is loose...Belt should move about 1/2 to 3/4"...Bleeding is as follows...

    ImportantPower steering fluid level must be maintained throughout bleed procedure.
  1. Fill pump reservoir with fluid to minimum system level, FULL COLD level, or middle of hash mark on cap stick fluid level indicator.
  2. ImportantWith hydro-boost only, the oil level will appear falsely high if the hydro-boost accumulator is not fully charged. Do not apply the brake pedal with the engine OFF. This will discharge the hydro-boost accumulator.
  3. If equipped with hydro-boost, fully charge the hydro-boost accumulator using the following procedure:
  4. 2.1. Start the engine.2.2. Firmly apply the brake pedal 10-15 times.2.3. Turn the engine OFF.
  5. Raise the vehicle until the front wheels are off the ground. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  6. Key on engine OFF, turn the steering wheel from stop to stop 12 times.
  7. Vehicles equipped with hydro-boost systems or longer length power steering hoses may require turns up to 15 to 20 stop to stops.
  8. Verify power steering fluid level per operating specification. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  9. Start the engine. Rotate steering wheel from left to right. Check for sign of cavitation or fluid aeration (pump noise/whining).
  10. Verify the fluid level. Repeat the bleed procedure if necessary.

First thing you need to do is pinpoint the source of the leak EXACTLY, clean off all the fluid and then put some fluid in the system, have someone start the car and while the car is supported securely off the ground go under and locate the leak, wear safety goggles so fluid doesn't get in your eyes.

Replaced engine in 97 CL. All put together but power steering fluid has a lot of air in it and making alot of noise. How do I get air out of power steering system?


Let it sit with the engine off. this will help the air bubble seperate from the fluid. With the reservoir full (using only hoda/acura specific P/S fluid), the engine off and the front wheels off the ground turn the steering wheel full left and full right several times while keeping an eye on the fluid level. Then start the engine and let it idle. Eventually the rest of the air will work its way out. Heavily cavitated fluid will take some time.

You can also add about an ounce of Seafoam Motor Tune to the P/S fluid. This will help remove the air bubbles from the system.

What is the sequence to bleed the brakes on a 1994 Chevy Suburban?


Bleeding the Brakes
EXCEPT HYDRO-BOOST OR ABS(see Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4)
To bleed the brakes on a vehicle equipped with ABS, please refer to the ABS bleeding procedure in this section.
The brake system must be bled when any brake line is disconnected or there is air in the system.
Never bleed a wheel cylinder when a drum is removed.
  1. Clean the master cylinder of excess dirt and remove the cylinder cover and the diaphragm.
  2. Fill the master cylinder to the proper level. Check the fluid level periodically during the bleeding process and replenish it as necessary. Do not allow the master cylinder to run dry, or you will have to start over.
  3. Before opening any of the bleeder screws, you may want to give each one a shot of penetrating solvent. This reduces the possibility of breakage when they are unscrewed.

  1. Attach a length of vinyl hose to the bleeder screw of the brake to be bled. Insert the other end of the hose into a clear jar half full of clean brake fluid, so that the end of the hose is beneath the level of fluid. The correct sequence for bleeding is to work from the brake farthest from the master cylinder to the one closest; right rear, left rear, right front, left front.
  2. The combination valve must be held open during the bleeding process. A clip, tape, or other similar tool (or an assistant) will hold the metering pin in.
  3. Depress and release the brake pedal three or four times to exhaust any residual vacuum.
  4. Have an assistant push down on the brake pedal and hold it down. Open the bleeder valve slightly. As the pedal reaches the end of its travel, close the bleeder screw and release the brake pedal. Repeat this process until no air bubbles are visible in the expelled fluid.
Make sure your assistant presses the brake pedal to the floor slowly. Pressing too fast will cause air bubbles to form in the fluid.
  1. Repeat this procedure at each of the brakes. Remember to check the master cylinder level occasionally. Use only fresh fluid to refill the master cylinder, not the stuff bled from the system.
  2. When the bleeding process is complete, refill the master cylinder, install its cover and diaphragm, and discard the fluid bled from the brake system.
HYDRO-BOOSTThe system should be bled whenever the booster is removed and installed.
  1. Fill the power steering pump until the fluid level is at the base of the pump reservoir neck. Disconnect the battery lead from the distributor.
Remove the electrical lead to the fuel solenoid terminal on the injection pump before cranking the engine.
  1. Jack up the front of the car, turn the wheels all the way to the left, and crank the engine for a few seconds.
  2. Check steering pump fluid level. If necessary, add fluid to the "ADD" mark on the dipstick.
  3. Lower the car, connect the battery lead, and start the engine. Check fluid level and add fluid to the "ADD" mark, as necessary. With the engine running, turn the wheels from side to side to bleed air from the system. Make sure that the fluid level stays above the internal pump casting.
  4. The Hydro-Boost system should now be fully bled. If the fluid is foaming after bleeding, stop the engine, let the system set for one hour, then repeat the second part of Step 4.
The preceding procedures should be effective in removing the excess air from the system, however sometimes air may still remain trapped. When this happens the booster may make a gulping noise when the brake is applied. Lightly pumping the brake pedal with the engine running should cause this noise to disappear. After the noise stops, check the pump fluid level and add as necessary.

How to bleed the power steering system on a 2004 acura tl


Hi
You don't actually have to bleed a power steering system as such, its not like a brake system. If the fluid bottle was empty and you refilled it, or you have replace the steering pump then it's only a simple operation.
  1. Ensure that the power steering fluid is topped up.
  2. Start the engine.
  3. Turn the steering wheel to full lock in one direction until you hear a hissing type sound which is the relief valve.
  4. Then do the same as #3 in the opposite direction.
  5. Do this about 3 - 5 times per side.
  6. The hissing sound should get quieter as the fluid gets around the system
  7. Recheck fluid level.
The power steer system should operate as normal after doing the above.Hope this has helped, let me know how you get on.

Power steering pump


Whining may be normal.
Pulling fluid from reservoir may be normal.
But I would not expect the fluid to go back to the reservior when you stop.
Is it?
If so, you may have some trapped air or something.
Jack the wheels off the ground, and go lock to lock on the steering, several times, to bleed any air out.

I'm trying to replace the power steering pump on my acura integra 1994 how can i replace it


drain power steering fluid.disconnect the inlet and out let hoses from power steering pump.remove belt by loosen the adjusting bolts on pump bracket.remove power steering bolts and remove pump.put in new power steering pump torque it 17 ft lbs . connect hoses .put belt back on adjust the belt tension. add fluid check level . bleed the air from system.
