Hi:
When the Engine Control Module encounters problems, it will also disable the traction control system. Scanned the ECM to know fault codes stored there, repairing this codes and clearing the codes will turn off the Traction indicator and allows the traction control to work once again.

If the Traction Control light is coming on, the traction control is activating and can cause a jerking problem. Nothing last the life of the vehicle, however the timing chain should not need to be changed at 49,000 miles. If it does, I would have them do it under warranty. See if you can get the codes and send them to me. That way we can get a better ideal of what is going on. Could you please tell me what these codes stand for?

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

SOURCE: Anti-Lock brake light and traction off light came on

U have most likely damaged a wheel sensor ring, in order to ID the one you damaged u will need to have the ABS/TRACTION CONTROL system tested for trouble codes, this will lead to the right area for repair.

Traction active light comes on dash when sharp turning

Hello, this is normally caused by a wheel speed harness going to one of the front wheel speed sensors. this requires a high end scan tool that reads real time data to isolate which harness is at fault. or you could just replace both front harnes. cost is about 75.00 a harnesss. takes about 1 hour per side to replace

This is usually a break in one of the front wheel speed sensors harness. this requires a high end scan tool to check out which one is at fault. make sure both harness are secure and plug into sensor good. without a scan tool, about the only option is replace both front harness

My towncar slows down when the traac active light comes on what is the problem

Keep in mind that Traction Control applies the ABS to the individual wheel when it spins too fast, slowing it down to the speed of the other wheels so that it can gain traction.

What would cause traction active light come on

i have had this problem since about 6 months after i bought my 2001 impala. the problem is in the hubs. the wireing that runs throw them rubs together and eventually shorts the traction and abs. easy solution to fix it though. get into the hubs and wrap the wires. otherwise take the car in and explain the problem to them and exactly what you need done. 9-10 times they won't fix the problem unless you tell them what you want done. it is really simple and going to the dealer should only cost you about 100 to fix.

Traction active light

you have an ABS sensor that is miss reporting in a turn and causing the ABS to activate. You will need a scan tool to watch the wheel speed data and look for the one that is dropping out

Traction Active light comes on

1prettysmile,
The "traction active" light is a light that lets you know when a certain part of your Anti lock break system engages. Each tire has a sensor that detects a couple different things in the wheels. One of the sensors may be going bad and needs replaced. Any of these sensors going bad can cause those symptoms.
