It was the flasher which is under the dashboard altho I carried in the relay; the rep advised it could have been the relay but more likely was the flasher - which is what it was.

You're searching for the relay right? Often it's built into the hazard light switch/button. Replace that as a unit and you should be good to go.

My turn signals quit working on my 98 explorer after working on the gas tank. Is there anything by the gas tank that would affect the turn signals?

there is a hazard flasher and a turn signal flasher. if the hazards work turn them on and find the flasher making the noise this will show what it looks like as the turn signal looks the same. the signal should be around the same area somewhere as the manufacture does not put them in a set location. if the hazards do work then the wiring is good and working on the gas tank had no affect with your problem. if they don`t work then you may have damaged the wiring in that area and will have to take a look.

Can,t get signal or flashers to work on 1997 Dodge Intrepid

I assume you've checked the Fuses :p Obviously that hasnt worked and the bulbs and lights haven't worked either... SO try this????
Open the driver's side door and examine the end of the dash for an access panel. Behind the access panel are fuses and flashers. There are two flashers inside the access panel for controlling the turn signal and the hazard lights. You can distinguish them apart from each other by turning on the hazards or the turn signal and feeling for the clicking. If you turned on the hazards, then the flasher that is clicking is the hazard flasher.
Remove the turn signal flasher from the dash and reinstall the new flasher into the vacated slot in the dash. Close the access panel and start thetruck . Check the turn signals for proper operation and make sure the hazards work as well.

Please let me know how it goes

Hazard/turn signal dont work 2002 monte carlo will not fash nor turn on once in a while indicator light blink for a slight second

you could have a bad flasher unit causing this.you say hazard/flasher not working.do you mean just the signals not working and think the hazards won`t work or are the hazards not working.there are two flasher units one for signal and one for hazards.you could have a problem with the signal switch as well.

How to fix turn signal on 86 Chevy Astro Van

you don`t say but do the lights work either on the front/back on both sides.if not then it may be a fuse that needs replacing or need a bulb replacement.if the lights work but don`t flash then it sounds like a signal flasher problem.the flasher is located in the fuse panel under the dash on the drivers side.if the hazard flashers work then turn them on to find the hazard flasher by the fuse panel then you will know what the signal flasher looks like and change the signal flasher.make sure you change the one for the signals and not the hazard one.if the hazards work then i would say the signal switch is good as the hazards work through the same switch.

The turn signals do not work when you use the signal switch. However, the emergency flashers do work. The fuse was checked and is good. Everything else on the signal stem works: the cruise control,...

if the fuse is good and all the lights work(if you checked them when the hazards were working)then you need a signal flasher, the signals have a separate flasher and it looks like the hazard flasher.if you turn on the hazards and look for it under the dash then you know what the signal flasher looks like,it is located on the fuse panel of in that area.

Hi there my suzuki grand vitara harzards have stopped working all the fuses are ok some one said to check the relay ? can any one help

there are two flasher units plugged into the fuse panel. one is for hazards the other for turn signals.
find the fuse panel by reading the owners manual, do not be surprised if it is to the left of the driver's knee. as the flashers are the same unit, just swap them, if the hazards now work but the turn signals don't you have just figured out what is bad. go buy a new flasher unit at a parts store and put it in the turn signal flasher socket. you use the signals way more than the hazards so your new one should be in the signal socket. most likely someone before you did the same thing and that is why your hazards which never get used, failed.

When the blinker is flipped up or down on the column the tail lights dont respond. But the brake lights and the hazards still work fine. Whats the problem?

The turn signal flasher relay may have a problem.Turn on the hazards and follow the clicking sound to the source and usually the hazard flasher and turn signal flasher are very close to each other.Remove the one that is clicking and put it in place of the turn signal flasher. If the Turn signals then work you will need to purchase a new turn signal flasher relay. They are usually just a few dollars.

Turn signal and hazards wont work checked the fuses and the flasher already

Do you have a trailer wiring harness? If you do, recheck the wiring there. If that doesn't help and you have properly checked the flashers then you need to check each bulb
