SOURCE: My 2006 GMC Envoy won't start and the battery is good and all the fluids are full, how would I locate the starter to check to see if that was the problem?

ne side starter is mounted against the face of the transmission on oof the engine (usually on the right side) Under the car. There should be 12v at the main lead and 12v at the small (trigger) terminal when the key is turned to the start position. If no power there, check neutral switch and ign switch. You also need to check and verify 12v at the battery and that all connections are clean and secure at both ends of each cable.

Code PO049 & PO171 on GMC ENVOY 2006

Hello, First I could not find any relative info on the p0049 code. Please double check and make sure that code is accurate. Next, for the P0171 ive seen the O2 sensor be at fault here but it is not very likely (but possible) More likely would be the Mass air flow sensor. Inspect it and clean maf if any change or improvement, this shows you are going in the right direction so replace it. Also, you can unplug it let it and see if it sets a code. Next, another likely cause is Purge solenoid. This fails by not allowing vacuum to pull gas into the engine. Common fault for this code and this vehicle... The last important step i can have you do is see if you have a disconnected pcv hose under front of plastic intake. With plastic anything can happen. Check for breaks, leaks etc. I will attach a troubleshooting tree for you. Let me know if you need further detail on any of the above info. Regards,
-Tim

  1. If conditions were not corrected, a worn cam, worn intake or exhaust valves, or other engine mechanical failures may be at fault.

How to fix 2006 vw passat 2.0t repair code po171

Check the engine for vacuum leaks in the small rubber hosing around the inlet manifold, run the engine and spray wd40 around the hoses if the engine revs rise you've a vac leak. Could also be a faulty MAF sensor which is located near the airbox with an electrical connector running to it. That fault code means your ECU thnks the engine is running lean so is compensating by adding fuel. Either you're gettng extra air into the intake that shouldn't be there or the MAF sensor is sending the wrong signals.
