My belt was squeeking and before I got to change it I got off the freeway and it died when I came across the overpass at the light. It will click over but won't start. I thought I jumped the timing belt...

Nothing worse than a squeeking belt. Best solution is to spray WD40 all over the belt and loosen it up so that it deflects 2'' for proper tension.Problem solved, button it up and go drive it hard

Engine squeek

Check your idler pulley(s) & serp. belt, alternator & lastly your timing belt idler. Squeeks generally signal impending bearing failure. With the engine running, turn on your lights: if it goes away or gets worse, most likely its the alternator. If it stays, could be the serp. idler. Using a long screwdriver, press the tip against the alternator frame and idler support and press your ear to the other end. Its crude, but it does work...should be able to get closer to the source. If you need to replace parts, start with the idler & serp. belt, then alternator (you might be able to have it rebuilt for a fraction of the cost) and lastly timing belt & idler.
Good luck.

Engine Squeek

It may be the water pump that is making the noise if the noise is constant.

Very loud squeek coming from Engine 2004 kia srento lx

check the alternator belt tightness, alot of the problems are caused by this :)

listen for the noise with the bonnet up, think you will find its the alternator belt squeeking or maybe a tensioner :)

I have a 1994 suzuki sidekick that have this squeeking or squealing going on. It's making that noise even while I'm driving. I put a new alternator and power steering belt on it. Any suggestions. My engine...

It sounds like you Belt Tensioner is not Working Correctly. I would Replace the Tensioner. It should Fix the Squeeking Problem. Please Rate my Solution, I need all the Help that I can Get! Thanks!

Squeeking noise when i start the engine, with the engine cold

Probably serpentine belt to loose.
It is common. Have it checked.
Also can be water or oil getting on belt and it starts slippering and makes the noise.
Good Luck
