Question about Nissan Sentra

Need to locate water pump on 1993 nissan sentra 1.6 liter engine

Would like info on location of water pump, to verify that it's what's leaking about 1/2 gallon of coolant daily. Car runs smoothly and well, but coolant leaks out on road. Down hills or down even slight grades temp gauge registers cool, on flats or uphill heats right up, but doesnt overheat until coolant dribbles out.

I HAVE SINCE WRITING THIS FOUND A GOOD WEBSITE, AUTOZONE, AND THEY GIVE FREE DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS (WITH pICS) ON CHANGING THE WATERPUMP. ALTHOUGH IT'S GONNA BE A PAIN IN THE ***, NO PLASTIC COVER OR TIMING BELT SEEMS TO BE INVOLVED, ACCORDING TO THEIR DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS. SEVERAL BELTS AND THE THERMOSTAT ARE, THO. THIS IS THE GA16DE TYPE ENGINE. THANKS ANYWAY

may have a restrictive radiator, leaking head gaskets can also cause overheating under loads. have your radiator flow checked and your engine block tested for leaking head gaskets

Need to locate and replace the water pump on 1997 nissan sentra.

The water pump is located on the passanger side of the engine. Look right below the timing chain cover and there is a pully and belt on the water pump. You will have to remove the water pump and thermostate together then seperate them after you get them off the car. I would recommend replacing the thermostate also (cheap fix). You will have to remove the belt and pully before you can remove the water pump. Hope this helps....

How do i change the belt on 1993 nissan sentra 1.6

There are potentially two rubber belts on that vehicle driving the power steering pump, water pump, alternator and air-conditioning.

There is one adjuster on the alternator bracket at the rear with locking bolt, and another tensioner pulley on the side of the engine. You may have to use a torch/flashlight to view this second one as it isn't always easily seen without one. It's also painted black, which makes it even less apparent.

Where is the thermostat located on a 1993 olds cutless supreme 3.1 liter engine How to install a new one

if you follow the upper radiator hose to where it connects to the engine. drain anti freeze a
little(to get below hose, remove hose from thermostat housing, remove 2 bolts & remove housing
the thermostat will pull out.make sure you install the same way(spring end toward engine)
if new thermo has a small hole in it(some do)make sure its up 12 o'clock position.
reconnect & refill system.there are air bleeders in system 1 at thermo housing & possibly
1 around the water pump.after car is running you need to open bleeder to allow trapped
air out.CAR WILL OVER HEAT IF ITS NOT BLED
top off system after bleeding

good luck

Where is the crankshaft sensor located ?

The crankshaft position sensor (POS) is located on the oil pan facing the gear teeth (cogs) of the signal plate. It detects the fluctuation of the engine revolution.
After replacement, ECM reprogramming is required.
This vehicle may be subject to voluntary recall, CAMPAIGN I.D. # R0606, that involves the crankshaft position sensor:

Quote: Nissan has determined that on some 2003 - 2004 Altima and Sentra vehicles with the 2.5 liter engine the operation of the crank angle sensor is significantly affected by variations in temperature that occur due to the unique location of the sensor in the engine. Under certain driving conditions, these variations in temperature can be large enough to cause a brief interruption in the signal output from the sensor. If the interruption in the signal from the sensor is so brief that the Electronic Control Module (ECM) logic does not have time to diagnose the condition, the engine may stop running without warning while the vehicle is driven at low speed.
