P0141 code on 98 gmc sierra w 350 vortec motor

Truck has some hesitation when taking off. used to happen at the lower speeds around first, second and third gear. Now when it happens its later like when shifting into o/d, or while going 70mph down the highway. been trying to diognose, not sure if motor of if transmission o/d disks are missing. I hooked to a buddies scanner only codes I got were (P0141 O2 heater circuit, bank 1, sensor2) Also a (P0430 catalyst system efficiency below, bank 2,). I'm not sure if what these codes are or if they are even the problem. Can anyone help me with this issue?

Check the engine for intake Vacuum leaks, that is what these codes may indicate. Spray propane gas around the top of Th engineer and listen for a change in the idle, if you hear one zero in on the area that causes the change and look for a leaking hose or gasket.

hi,my friend, you can try,

Check for exhaust leaks at the manifold, pipes, catalytic converter. Repair as required.

Use a scope to diagnose the oxygen sensor operation (Tip: The oxygen sensor in front of the catalytic converter normally has a fluctuating waveform. The waveform of the sensor behind the converter should be more steady).

Inspect the downstream heated oxygen sensor (HO2), replace if necessary

Replace the catalytic converter

Ok I am wondering if my motor in my 91 gmc 5.7 l b8 is a vortec or a 350 it has throttle body carb and not sure thought if I could interchange it with an older 350 ..

Here, is what I think you are asking. The TBI intake from a 91 will fit the same size engine from 88 to 95. The Vortec didn't come out till 96 I believe. So if your 91 is the original engine then it is not a Vortec motor. If you want to swap your 5.7 with another 5.7 (5.7 = 350) Then the 88-95 should work, Just double check your sensors and locations as the plugs may be different and or in different locations. I know my 88 GMC and my 94 chevy (both K1500's) were a little different. Hope this helps.

What year motors, can I use to replace my blown 1996 305 vortec t.b.i.? I own a 1996 GMC 1500, sl, ext. cab. Does it have to be a vortec for my current computer to work properly? Will engine mounts, bell...

Untill recently GM didn't change much of anything as far as bolt paterns You could bolt up a 350 from 20 years ago to your transmission and motor mounts. But that is not really what your wanting to do. The question is do you have a "vortec" or is it TBI. The vortec motor says vortec all over it (they were pretty proud of it I guess) The earlier TBI motor, at first glace look just like the old carburetor versions until you take of the air cleaner and find a throttle body instead of a carburetor. The two are not interchangeable as to the electronics, they are way diffract.

I have a 94 gmc sierra with 350 that has problem shifting to 2nd

Your problem likely resides with the hydraulic valve that operates the band for second gear, or lack of hydraulic pressure in the transmission. If the actuator in the transmission that operates second gear is getting sticky, then it will cause this. A filter change and flush may help, but it's likely time to start looking for someone to tear down your transmission, or replace it.
