Sounds like you have pushed the brake peddle to the floor after you changed the pads. This can cause major probs in the master cylinder. The brake warning light should come on if this is the trouble. Frankster016

Hi Cathy, Have a diagnostic scan carried out on your vehicle. The problem could be with the ABS pump or possibly one of the ABS speed sensors attached on each wheel. Regards John

You may have a defective line on the right front brake. GM had a batch of bad lines installed on several year models. I had one collapse on mine with the caliper closed and burned my caliper, rotor and pads. Try to disconnect the metal line further back at the equalizer and see if you get fluid there. If you do replace line.

The ABS wire is well away from your brake caliper. If your vehicle has brake pad warning wires, these may need to be replaced with the pads. They sometimes come with the pad set. Hope this helps...

How do i change my front brakes on my 04 grand prix

1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the front wheels with a 19mm tire socket or equivalant.
3. Locate the brake caliper and remove the two retaining bolts from the caliper(they are iether a allen wrench or torx style bolt)
4. Use a prybar and pry gently between the rotoe and caliper to loosen the caliper from its postion then lift it off the bracket.
5. Remove the old pads from the caliper and using a big c clamp or calpiper compression tool and the old inner pad compress the caliper piston back in all the way.
6. Install new pads into caliper and re assemble in reverse order.

When compressing the front brake calipers do you need to relieve the pressure by releasing the bleeder valve or can you just compress piston in slowly so you won't damage the release valve on the abs?

no you dont have to open bleeder, you will not mess anything up i do it all day long, the reason for opening the bleeder is so they say you dont push debris from caliper into abs, but every time you step on the brake and release it fluid is flow in and out of abs, if you feel better by opening bleeder go ahead youll just have to bleed brakes when your done , good luck, hope this is helpful.

Changing front brakes in a 2002 dodge grand caravan with abs. done lots of brake jobs in the past but never with abs. is there any difference?

No there is no difference you just do it like normal. Take off the wheel, remove the resivoir cap, take off the caliper, remove the old pads, compress the caliper, install the new pads and put the caliper back on, then the tire, and on to the next.

Make sure you pump the peddle after your done then check the fluid level. If all is good and your not leaking any fluid you should be all good.

ABS light on after replacing the front and rear brake pads .

u will need to check the wheel speed sensors behind the brake rotors to see if they got damaged or disconnected during the brake job, as long as the ABS light is on the Anti-lock brake system is disabled, regular braking without the need of ABS will feel fine.
