SOURCE: K&N filter oil damage to air mass meter Volvo 850 T5

Well I have got a way with cleaning some and they worked perfectly so it could be worth a try.
Use a can of spray brake cleaner and be very careful when you spray it onto the thin element inside the meter.
Don't wipe it out , just let it run out and dry by its self as this cleaner will evaporate quickly. Make sure there are naked flames or sparks and perform this clean in a well vented area.

Installing repair kit for hear acuator on 2006 equinox. ready to slide new part on cut shaft but seems to small around

I couldn't find anything related to the heat actuator replacement in the Equinox service manual but assuming you have bored out the hole by now to make it fit, I did find a calibration step that should be performed before touching anything in the heating, defrost and A/C section of air distribution. Here is a paste from the GM service manual;

Prior to or after any replacement of HVAC components including A/C compressor make sure to calibrate HVAC module using the following procedure.
1. - Calibrate the HVAC control by simultaneously depressing the A/C and re-circulation buttons three times in a period of less than two seconds, allow 15 seconds to complete calibration. Perform with ignition on.
2. - Verify A/C and re-circulation LEDs are flashing during calibration
3. - After calibration is complete, depress A/C or re-circulation button and make sure the LED state changes and all modes operate properly (if lit, LED will be off after button is cycled or vice-versa). If state does not change, follow published diagnosis.)

2005 Chevy Malibu Lt v6 3.5, has anti theftwont go off, after ignition cylinder change

Did you change key also ? does it have transponder chip in the head of the key ? Needs to be programmed . You change what ? Ignition lock cylinder an key ?
Important: When replacing either the vehicle keys, PCM, or TDM and the 10-Minute Relearn Procedure is used, ensure that the appropriate calibration is selected for the replacement component on the calibration selection screen of the service programming system. The appropriate calibrations for specific vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) system components are described below.
• When preparing a TDM for replacement, the Prepare Module For TDM Setup Procedure calibration is required. This allows the retrieval of required information from the TDM prior to its replacement.
• When learning vehicle keys and the 10-Minute Relearn Procedure is used, the Vehicle Theft Deterrent Learn For Learning Replacement Keys calibration is required. This clears all previously learned keys from the TDM and enables the TDM to learn new vehicle keys. For learning additional vehicle keys, refer to Adding Keys .
• When replacing a TDM or ECM and the 10-Minute Relearn Procedure is used, the VTD Learn for Powertrain calibration is required. This clears the previously learned fuel continue password in the ECM and enables the ECM to learn the fuel continue password of the new TDM.
Important: When replacing a TDM with a GM SPO Replacement Part, insure the Setup a New TDM procedure is performed prior to the 10-Minute Relearn Procedure.
Connect a scan tool to the vehicle.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Ensure that all power consuming devices are turned OFF on the vehicle.
With a scan tool, select Request Info. under Service Programming System and follow the scan tool on-screen instructions.
Disconnect the scan tool from the vehicle and connect the scan tool to a Techline Terminal with the current Service Programming System (SPS) software.
On the Techline Terminal, select Service Programming System and follow the Techline Terminal on-screen instructions. Ensure the correct programming procedure is selected based on the component being replaced or programmed. See Important above.
Disconnect the scan tool from the Techline Terminal and re-connect the scan tool to the vehicle.
With a master vehicle key, turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
With a scan tool, select Program ECU under Service Programming System.
At this point the scan tool must remain connected for the duration of the 10-Minute Relearn Procedure.

Need to know how to calibrate

What is it exactly you're trying to calibrate? typically in any form of calibration, you need a unit and method of measure, initial specifications so you know where you're calibration needs to be set before, during, and after your work. and a method of adjusting the item to be calibrated. usually a haynes manual, or other form of service manual will provide you with more detailed instructions on the specific type of car/truck/ etc you're working on. Hope this helps

How do I calibrate a Coats 700 tire balancer?

go to google --type in nytechsupply.com and there is a full operatots manual for that machine
you tube states that it is an auto calibrated machine
there is a calibration check procedure in the operators manual and again it states that the calibration is to fine tune for single spin operations.
I found this by typing into google---calibrating a coats 700 tyre balancer and there are pages which included the nytecsupply page.

Heater-A/C control calibration procedure

I found these instructions when my heater suddenly stopped working. Start car, while car is parked turn temperature to 75. Hold down the floor, defrost/floor and the defrost buttons. Wait til the temp light starts blinking, release. It will blink for a while and either recalibrate and be fine like mine or you could get 1 of 16 different trouble codes. Hope this helps. ;p ~Redmoon

FORD: 2001-2005 Escape
ISSUE: Some 2001-2005 Escape vehicles equipped with a 3.0L engine may exhibit idle speeds outside the specified range. Some 2001-2003 Escape vehicles equipped with a 3.0L engine and CD4E automatic transaxle may exhibit a transmission shudder.
ACTION: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
  1. If the concern is a 2001-2005 Escape with idle speeds outside the specified range:
    1. Install a new idle air control (IAC) valve with jumper harness included in the kit. The new Denso brand IAC will be installed with the electrical connector facing the opposite direction of the original (Hitachi) valve which is why the jumper harness is required. The original (Hitachi) IAC connector faces the front of the vehicle while the new Denso IAC connector faces toward the rear of the vehicle.
    2. Referring to the calibration charts (Figures 1 and 2), select the applicable file and reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) using the TSB Service Procedure and WDS/IDS release B40.5 and higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraft.com.
  2. If the concern is a 2001 - 2003 Escape with transaxle shudder, drain, flush and refill the transmission fluid with MERCON® Multi-Purpose Automatic Transmission Fluid. Then, referring to the calibration charts (Figures 1 and 2), select the applicable file and reprogram the PCM using the TSB Service Procedure and WDS/IDS release B40.5 and higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraft.com.
  3. When reprogramming the PCM use blank path programming. Select the proper file from the chart and manually enter the PCM part number or tear tag number to obtain the updated calibration file.
To Perform Blank Path Programming:
  1. Connect WDS/IDS to vehicle.
  2. Select "16 pin", select "All others, except those below", press TICK.
  3. Screen shows installation of cable, press TICK.
  4. Screen shows to turn ignition ON. DO NOT TURN IGNITION ON. Press TICK.
  5. Screen shows progress bar, then screen tells you "No communication can be established with the PCM" and asks you if you want to retry? Select "NO". With the ignition key still OFF, press TICK.
  6. Screen shows to turn ignition ON. Keep ignition in the "OFF" position, press TICK and you will be asked to cycle the key "ON" and "OFF" a few times. Please keep the key position in the "OFF" position through the key cycles.
  7. Screen will show "The diagnostic tester is unable to communicate with this vehicle." You will be prompted to "select a vehicle from the vehicle list", press TICK.
  8. A list of vehicles will be displayed, select ALL OTHERS, and press TICK.
  9. Screen shows "To enable WDS to reprogram the PCM with the correct calibration", enter one of the following: Vehicle Calibration number (7 digits), Tear Tag number (4 digits), or PCM part number, press TICK.
  10. Highlight the box next to the selection chosen, and enter ONLY ONE of the selections listed above. Press TICK.

PERFORMING THIS MODIFICATION ON OTHER ENGINE CALIBRATIONS IS UNAUTHORIZED AND COULD CREATE LIABILITY UNDER APPLICABLE FEDERAL OR LOCAL LAWS. ISSUE: Some vehicles may stall on deceleration and/or have an intermittent stall in warm weather. This may be caused by the vapor control valve not supplying a steady flow of fuel from the tank to the intake manifold.
ACTION: Replace the fuel tank, vapor control valve, fuel fill tube cap and clamp. Install heat shield over fuel tank and reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). This should reduce the possibility of stalling. Refer to the following text for details.
Perform all diagnostics for stalling by following the procedures outlined in the 1996 Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Service Manual and 1996 Taurus/Sable Service Manual, Pages 03-13-5 through 03-13-8. Check to be sure Grounds 401 (sedans) and 400 (wagons) are secure. Check for a kink in the canister vent hose and repair as required. If no other concerns are found, reprogram the PCM using the latest level CD-ROM update disc and refer to the following PCM Application Chart for correct PCM usage. Replace the fuel tank, vapor control valve, and vapor management valve by following the procedure outlined in the Instruction Sheet included in the Fuel System Service Kit.

Compass out of whack

You need to recalibrate the compass. The procedure is in your owners manual. Here are the basic steps.

First, you will need to verify that your compass zone is set to your current geographic location. Since I do not know where you are located, I cannot tell you the code. They are listed in the manual. (For example, So Cal is zone 5.)

Second, here is the compass calibration adjustment procedure:

Perform this adjustment in an open area free from steel structures and high voltage lines. For optimum calibration, turn off all electrical accessories (heater/air conditioning, wipers, etc.) and make sure all vehicle doors are shut.
1. Start the vehicle.
2. To enter the compass calibration mode, press and hold the button for greater than eight seconds. The display will then show CAL in the display window.
3. Drive the vehicle slowly (less than 3 mph) in circles until CAL indicator turns off. As many as 5 complete circles may be required.
4. The compass is now calibrated.
