Most chevrolet models have the fuel pump inside the gas tank. to replace it, you will need to drop the tank... and you should see it on the top. BTW for safety sake... don't try this with a full fuel tank.

Yes, it has an electrical fuel pump located in the gas tank. First check the fuel pump fuse located in the fuse panel on the left outer side of the dash. You can only access this panel with the driver's door open. It is located near the black button for the dome lights and chime.
It is a 20-amp fuse. Replace it if it is blown, but ONLY with a 20-amp fuse. The wire harness for the fuel pump sometimes goes bad, or the pump motor, or the wire harness inside the tank to the pump motor. If the blown fuse is replaced with a larger-amp fuse, you could cause a fire or explosion.
If it blows the replacement fuse, stop. Fuses blow for a reason, 9 times out of 10. Call a tow truck to remove the truck to a qualified repair shop.
I suggest you have a fuel pressure leak down test run on this truck, the pressure check valve that is part of the fuel pump may be defective, this lets the pressure bleed down and this causes your kind of starting issues. The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank which must be dropped out to replace the fuel pump module assembly.
Remove as much fuel from the tank as you can. Disconnect the fuel lines and remove the bolts on the tank straps. Lower the tank and with a hammer and screwdriver, tap the locking ring counterclockwise. Now remove the pump assembly.
the fuel sending unit is located on the fuel pump itself, located on the side of your fuel pump inside of the gas tank itself.you'll need to replace the entire fuel pump in order to solve fuel level issues. the fuel tank will have to come out,and then the fuel pump removed and replaced.it really stinks to have a bad fuel guage reading false, only to find out that the entire fuel pump has to be replaced to solve a false reading . feel free to call your local autozone or advance autoparts store for details. but here is a hint" the more fuel in your tank at the time of replacement of the fuel pump, the more expensive it will be.due to the fuel tank being "heavy" that has been my expereince so far. good luck and thank you for choosing fixya.com
