Yes the problem start after I change the alternator now I can't get it to start. The car was runing before I change the alternator because when I car the car the battery run down, that is why I change the alternator.

Did this problem begin only after changing the alternator?

What symptom prompted the replacement of the alternator?

Does the car presently "crank"? (Starter turns engine)

It sounds like you replaced the alternator because it was not charging the battery.
(Although no alternator can charge a shorted battery).

So now after replacing the alternator, the battery is still dead and can't be expected to charge until the engine runs for awhile. Well....the car starts and cranks from only the battery, not the alternator.

You could jump start the car with jumper cables from another vehicle to give the alternator a chance to do its job.

I suggest charging the battery from a stand-alone battery charger (about $50 any auto parts store, etc ).

You have not said anything yet that verifies that you have tested the battery.
If your battery is more than 2 or 3 years old, you may want to replace it.
They typically don't last much longer than that.

(By the way, I've never heard of a "crank sensor")

Will not start when below 45 degree ambient temp. Cranks but no start. While cranking the tach does not see any rpm. Put jumper cables on ad car will start. I am thinking crank position sensor.

I am thinking that battery does not have enough capacity to turn engine over fast enough for crank sensor to see (ooh yeah they have a min rpm too)
as with most computers today lots of things going on all at once like counting 15 rpm of crank shaft before turning on fuel injectors

Engine cranks but won't start.

Measure or have a reliable mechanic measure fuel rail pressure. I still say the problem is in the fuel delivery system.

Will a cam shaft senor keep my car from cranking when u cut it off I've changed both crank senor on it an it still want crank with out puting some quick start spray n it its a 2002 Buick century

when you say crank ,,, that means engine does not turn over when you turn the key to start position ,,,, as you said you use start spray this means engine is turning over ,,,,, i think you mean engine turns over but wont start,,,,,,, cam sensor will cause engine to be slower to start but you would be better to get the car plugged in to see what the fault codes are in the system ,,, also if no codes the data list of the engine sensors will show up a faulty sensor ,,, to be honest there is no point in spending your hard earned cash putting in sensors until you carry out a diagnostic check and only have to change the faulty sensor that shows up...best of luck

I have a 97 grand cherokee it keeps blowing the asd fuse i changed the pcm,the cam and crank sensors it started and i drove about a block and it blew the fuse again i changed the fuse and turned it over...

Hi, the asd relay powers a lot of things. You may have to unhook some stuff to figure out what is causing the problem. Is your engine light on? I think the O2 sensor heaters are on that fuse but they should throw a trouble code, as the PCM monitors that current. You could unhook the EVAP leak detection pump--I think it's in the rear bumper on driver's side. The injectors are on the fuse as well as the alternator stator current. Perhaps you could disconnect the pump, O2 sensors, and the alternator (just the connector--not the charge wire). Then start the car and hook stuff back one at a time until the fuse blows. Make sense? Let me know if you have questions and thanks for using FixYa.

I have a 93 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 that cranks and doesn't wanna start. Fuel Pump is working and has good fuel pressure. Problem is coil loses power after the first start. I put in new distributor, new coil,...

Ok...you mentioned that there is no spark coming from the coil when it's in no start...Is there power from the alternator going to the coil?
One other item...If the timing chain is worn and stretched, it is possible that the cam sensor and crank sensor are out of phase with each other, just enough where a temperature difference will change starting ability.
One question...while in no start, have you tried changing the throttle position while cranking to see if it lights at part or 3/4 throttle?

Wont start after changing the alternator, battery, and MAF sensor

Sometimes the alarm thinks the pos. battery cable has been cut so it kills the ighition. You will have to look in the manual to see how to reset the alarm. You may need a code. If its not the alarm, you may have blown a fuse or worse, fried the computer when you put the alt. in. start at the begining. Check the battery cable connections, battery voltage, alt. wires and connections. if the headlighys work but the car won't start, it's prob. not a "connection" problem.
