Hi there:
It really depends on the code that they are finding when they scan the system to see what is going on with the system. Check for any loose plugs under the passenger seat and try scanned the module to know fault codes there.

There is a factory bulleting regarding the air bag system, but it would only apply if the codes on the list are what they are finding when they scan the system.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

You may experience an intermittent or current SIR indicator on the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) with DTC B0012 0E, b0013 0E, b0016 0E, b0019 0E, b0020 0E, b0022, b0023 0E, B0033 0E, B0040 0E, or B0042 set in the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM).

Note: This PI only applies to the DTCs as listed above. Example, if you have a dtc B0022 symptom 0D, this pi DOES NOT apply because it is only for a B0022. DTCs B0022 and B0042 will not have symptom codes because they are for older models like the Trailblazer, Envoy, etc, and did not use symptom codes.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Inspect for a loose, missing, or broken Connector Position Assurance (CPA) retainer at the air bag for the set dtc. If loose, remove the connector and reinstall correctly by first pushing the connector body in completely and then pushing in the CPA completely. If the CPA is broken, missing, or will not seat in connector correctly, replace the CPA retainer with part number: 54590003 (Orange CPA) that is located in the connector tray of the terminal repair kit.

Note: If the CPA retainer part number: 54590003 (Orange CPA) can't be located in terminal repair kit, contact Kent Moore Tools @ 1-800-GM-Tools to obtain a new package of 5.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.

SOURCE: airbag light on instrument panel flashes then stays illuminated

Some vehicles you can disconnect the battery for 10-20 mins and it usually resets a check engine light. But the airbag light is different. This means there is something wrong with the airbag system and it will not go out until maintenance.

SOURCE: my airbag light stays on

I just had my car worked on in one shop, a HYUNDAI ATOS 2000 they fixed a bad windshield wiper mechanism, but after the repair, my airbag light remained illuminated,
the garage mechanic tried with 2 diagnostic computers to
'reboot' my cars own computer, but neither of his devices could communicate with my car,
I had to go to another garage with a proper computer
the repair took only 5 seconds!!
sobs!, they charged me $50 for the 'work'......the first garage evidenlty, touched something, and I had to pay the bill......live & learn,.
before this I tried all the 'tricks' like disconnecting the battery,
first neg, then pos, nothing else worked, damned computers!!

SOURCE: The airbag light in dash staying on in my 2004

Under driver and passenger seats are wires that go to seat belt anchors. These are tensioner wires.Unplug the wires from the plug under the seat.clean and replace.Doing this while the ignition is turned off. Then turn ignition back on.In 90% of the time this is your problem.Constant movement of seat causes this or rear passengers kicking plugs off.Good luck phil.

SOURCE: Suzuki 2004 XL7 airbag light on and clock flashes

My suggestion is to take the vehicle to the franchised Dealer where they will have the proper test equipment to identify the fault. I understand your concern about keeping the costs down and so what I’d do is telephone at least two Suzuki Dealers and ask them for a cost to diagnose the problem – you might wish to say to them that you have a fixed budget of say $100. At least this way you can be told what the problem is and what the rectification cost is likely to be. At that point you can choose to either proceed with the work or not. Hope this helps, Scottech

Airbag flashes 6 times

The flashing light means there is a problem with the SIR system. When the light stays on the system is disabled.
You will have to take it to a shop to get it scanned to find out the problem.

I'm getting an audible alarm from my instrument cluster as the air bag light doesn't light up with the rest of my instrument lights when i turned the key to on the alarm is 5 beeps appox. 5 times is there...

Replace the airbag lamp in the cluster, and get the LFC ( Light Flash Code ) to figure out what the problem is with the SRS.
The 5x5 beeping is an indication that there is a SRS problem waiting and the airbag light cannot give the LFC. Page 105 in the owners manual.

Once you replace the airbag light, you will get a LFC that is a 2 digit number presented by the flashes.
Example is a LFC of 42, the airbag light would flash 4 times, pause flash 2 times pause and repeat.

Once you have the LFC, either start a new problem, or add a comment to this problem with the number for further diagnoses.

Air bag light is blinking

Guys! Are you readying your airbag system after messing around with your truck?

I've seen airbag lights come on for man reasons, faulty sensors, connections, replacing RADIOS! Removing seats!! All sorts of reasons. Personally I bought my QX56 with the airbag light blinking. Drove me crazy for 24 hours till I decided to reset it n see what happened. It takes two minutes to do. No tools.

1. Turn key from off to on. (on meaning all your dash lights are on but your not cranking the motor)

2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off instantly.

3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)

4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.

5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.

6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.

Air bag light always blinking?

Mine came on when my car hit 120K mi. I also reset it using a sequence within the car.

Problem Scenerio: turn car motor on, car conducts self test, during which time airbag light stays on for 5-second (or 5 or 6-beeps)..it turns off for a second then flashes 'off and on'...and annoys the hell out of you as you drive...especially at night.

Solution 1: put black electrical tape (band-aid) over airbag light indicator...annoying problem gone.

However, in VA the airbag light can't be flashing to pass the annual car inspection, so....

Solution 2: Reset the Airbag light using the following sequence I discovered and heard about:

1. Turn key / ignition to 'ON' (Do Not Start). and await for the self-testing procedure to end (Air Bag Light stays on for about 5-seconds or '6-beeps')
2. As soon as the Airbag light turns off - turn the ignition to OFF position and count 5-Mississippi's (that's 5-seconds).
3. Then turn ignition back to 'ON' Position and repeat step 1 & 2 again.

Conduct Steps 1 & 2 - Three times in a row.

After the 3rd or successful timed sequence, allow the car to go through it's complete self testing stage and as soon as its done the airbag light will flash...but at a slower pace (That is good!) That means the cpu is resetting. Once you observe the slow flashing airbag light, turn the car off, then start it normally and the airbag light 'should' reset (not flashing and bugging the **** out of you).

Then, take the black electrical tape off the dash panel and throw it away.

This is no joke and it really works!! if you have any questions, contact me. carl@sat-tel.com
