Question about 1994 Nissan Sentra 4-Door

Tail lamps,license lamp,illunination lamp do not turn on,relay is not problem

When lites are turned on tail,dash,license lamps dont come on, ive replaced relay&cheked all fuses. also when brake is applied brakelites do work.

Did you have a trailer light plug installed recently for towing? If so, they wired it wrong and the result of that cuts current to your veh. lights.

Park, Tail and Marker Lamps
The park, tail and marker lamps, including the license lamps, are turned on when the headlamp switch is placed in either the PARK or HEADLAMP position, or anytime the headlights are requested. The PARK LPS fuse in the underhood fuse block, supplies battery positive voltage to both the park lamp relay switch contacts and park lamp relay coil circuit. The park lamp relay coil is controlled by the body control module (BCM). When the headlamp switch is placed in the PARK position, the BCM will then energize the park lamp relay coil control circuit. Current flow is now from the park lamp relay to the park/tail lamps. The front park lamps are grounded at G100 and G101. The rear park lamps are grounded at G401 and G402. The license plate lamps are a part of the rear park lamp circuit and are grounded at G401. The inadvertent power control feature prevents the park lights from remaining on more than 10 minutes if left on. If the park lights are turned on after the ignition switch has been turned OFF, or is in the ACCY position, they will remain on until turned off or the battery runs dead.

Park, Tail, Marker and License Lamps
The park, tail, license, and marker lamps are turned ON when the headlamp switch is placed in either the HEAD or PARK lamp positions, or anytime the automatic light control (ALC) turns the headlamps ON. When the headlamp switch is placed in the park lamp or headlamp positions, ground from G202 is applied through the signal circuit to the BCM indicating the park lamp request. In response to this signal, the BCM applies ground through the park lamp relay control circuit energizing the PARK LP PCB Relay. With the relay energized, battery voltage is applied through the switch side of the relay, both park lamp fuses, and the supply voltage circuits illuminating the park, tail marker, and license lamps. Ground for the left front park and marker lamps is provided at G101 and the right front park and marker lamps at G100. Ground for all rear lamps is provided at G302.
Turn Signal Lamps
The LT T/SIG and RT T/SIG fuses located in the underhood fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to the body control module (BCM) for turn signal and hazard lamp operation. When the turn signal switch is place in either the LEFT or RIGHT position, ground from G202 is applied through the turn signal switch signal circuit to the BCM indicating the turn signal request. In response to this signal, the BCM applies a pulsating voltage to the front and rear turn signal lamps supply voltage circuits cycling the lamps ON and OFF. The BCM also sends a message via GMLAN to the instrument panel cluster (IPC) to cycle the turn signal indicator ON and OFF depending on the position of the turn signal switch.
Ground for the turn signal lamps is supplied as follows:

Voltage is applied to the turn/headlamp switch at all times. When the turn/headlamp switch is in the PARK or the HEAD position, voltage is applied to the following components:

The front marker lamps are grounded through the turn filament of the respective front park/turn lamp. The front marker lamps light as a result.
The automatic lamp control function turns on the park lamps and the headlamps. This action occurs when the ambient light sensor determines that the exterior lamps should be turned ON based on the amount of available light. When the BCM grounds the park lamp relay, voltage is supplied directly to the park lamps, bypassing the turn/headlamp switch assembly. When this action occurs, the following conditions exist:

I have a 2007 Chevy HHR..the tail light don't work the bulbs workI have turn signals and brake lights..no owners manual in car. check fuses can't locate the fuse for tail light is there another place


Your talking about the rear park lamps, but, do the front park lamps work?
Note the picture.
Underhood fuse box, 68 is park lamp relay, 69 is park lamp fuse.

The instrument panel cluster,tail (driving) lamps,& license plate lite do not lite. fuses 9,14,20 are ok. what else could be bad or broke?


Check fuse's #19 ,# 6 #4 check grounds 105 & 107
G107 In the left rear of the engine block next to the knock sensor. G105 In the thermostat housing
The park, tail, marker and license lamps are turned on when the headlamp switch is placed in the PARK or ON position or anytime the headlights are requested. The PK LPS fuse in the IP fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to the park lamp relay and the headlamp switch. The body control module (BCM) provides a ground, or control circuit, to the park lamp relay coil circuit during ALC operation. When the park lamps are turned on during ALC, the BCM energizes the park lamp relay. The park lamps can also be supplied battery positive voltage directly from the headlamp switch. Current flow is to the park, tail, marker and license lamps. The front park and marker lamps are grounded at G100 and G101. The rear park, tail, marker and license lamps are grounded at G400 and G401. If the headlight switch is left in the ON position, the park, tail and marker lamps will remain on until turned off or the battery runs dead.
Check the headlamp switch !

Where is the parking light relay located


No relay for the parking lights .
When the headlamp switch is moved to the PARK or ON position, battery voltage is supplied from the 15A Park Lamp fuse to circuit 9. Current flows through circuit 9 to the instrument panel fuse block (IPFB). Battery power passes through the IPFB to both license lamps, both front and rear tail lamps, both front park/turn lamps, and all marker lamps through circuit 9. The front marker and front park/turn lamps are grounded by circuit 150 through the forward lamp ground splice pack. The rear tail lamps and license lamps are grounded by circuit 550 at the rear ground splice pack and the right rear body ground.

they are dual filament bulbs so the tail light filament might have blown and not the stop light , replace the bulb to check

Dash lights and running lights dont work


At the instrument panel fuse block, check 15A fuse 10 (indicators). In the relay center, check 10A fuse 8 (speedometer).

For "back lights" problem: At the left underhood fuse block, check the 20A HEADLAMP BREAKER. At the instrument panel fuse block, check 15A fuse 6C. Both of these supply power to the lamp control module. If you set the park lamp switch to the on position, the tail part of the tail/stop/turn lamps should light, the separate tail lamps should light, the license lamps should light, and the rear marker lamps should light. If any of these don't light check for burned out lamps, bad sockests, and bad wiring or missing grounds (black wires)

The RT I/P #1 fuse in the RH I/P fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to both the park lamp relay switch contacts and to the park lamp relay coil circuit. The park lamp relay coil is controlled by the body control module (BCM). When the headlamp switch is placed in the PARK position, the BCM energizes the park lamp relay coil control circuit.
Current flows from the park lamp relay switch to both front and rear park lamp fuses and to their respective park/tail lamps. The front park lamps are grounded at G101. The rear park lamps are grounded at G302. The license plate lamps are a part of the rear park lamp circuit and are grounded at G302. The inadvertent power control feature prevents the park lamps from remaining on more than 10 minutes if left on. If the park lamps are turned on after the ignition switch has been turned OFF, or is in the ACCY position, they will remain on until turned off or until the battery runs dead.

Did you the REAR PARK LP fuse 15 amp in the right insturment panel fuse box.

Tail lights do not work. Bulbs are good. Both fuses are good(separate cicuits). What else could it be? Is there a relay involved? Could the switch be defective? thanks! Mike


All the exterior lights run threw the turn signal switch. Except the high mount brake light. If you are talking about brake lights replace the TS switch. Parking lights are a little different. If you have no parking lights front and back, TS switch. If you have front and no back, ground problem. Grounds for the back are usually on the drivers side mounted to the frame.
