brake lights worked when i went to work on my way home was stoped and tpld my brake lights were not on ckecked fuses and bulbs are good tail lights on

My brake lights dont work but the tail lights come on when I turn on the headlights.

Check fuses first. Should be a fuse labeled 'Stop' or 'Brake'.

If fuses are good, climb under the dash and look at the brake switch, it's high up on the brake lever. Make sure it is operated by pressing in the brake pedal.

Check the brake fuse in your dash's fusebox. Since the turns work, you know the bulbs are good, unless your Neon has separate brake lights. If the fuse is good, bulbs are good, then check for power at the brake light switch on the upper portion of the brake pedal. Should have 12 volts there all the time. Use a testlight or voltmeter to check. Good luck.

The power flow for the brake lights goes like this: Fuse ->Brake switch -> Turn signal switch -> Rear lights. The only difference is, if you have a 3rd brake light in your rear window, that gets its power directly from the brake switch. It does not go thru the signal switch first. So, if you are having a brake light problem, and your fuses are good, check the 3rd light in the rear window, if it lights up (assuming the bulbs are good, no one ever changes them), then the problem is most likely in the turn signal switch, hope this helps!

Too many problems with the lights. Sounds like someone uninstalled a light package and didn't put the wires back together properly. If it were me I would start by replacing the light switch after making sure all the fuses are good in the fuse box and the Power distribution box.

if you have the circuit board type rear lights the circuits inside will brake and cross eachother that will cause your problem
