Sounds like your brakes are sticking. Possibly the emergency brake is not disengaging entirely? Stop the car and put in park. Apply emergency brake as hard/far as possible. Then release and put in drive and try to go. Most emergency brakes are self adjusting. If the problem still persists, have it taken to your mechanic.
I strongly suggest that you replace the transmission fluid. If the fluid is burnt the transmission tends to be sluggish and finds it hard to shift gears. This will surely give great stress to the engine. Once the fluid is replaced, smooth drive and shifting will be noticeable.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
With the engine off pump the brakes hard and fast then holdit pressing fermly on the brake, have someone break loose a bleeder on the first one. the peddle will sink to the floor. hold it there untill the other pearson has tightend the bleeder back. repet for all the others and make sure you have plenty of brake fluid in the resovoir.
Your van don't have the regular air (vacum) power brake booster, your has a hydraboost brake booster, which is power by your power steering pump, if power steering pump goes bad you will not have power steering or brakes, brake peddle will feel very hard and will take alot of pressure on the brake peddle to stop your van, more the likely your power steering pump is bad.
check the accelarator cable isnt stretched (rev the car from the peddle, then from under the hood and listen for any rev differences) although its just been serviced also check that its had a replacement air filter. this could be restricting air.
