2007 grand prix replaced fuel pump assy now fuel gauge reads full only

If you replaced the fuel pump then one of two things probably happened. Recheck the electrical connection on the sending unit or your sending unit was damaged when you replaced the fuel pump. The sending unit is the float/arm device (like a toilet) that sends a resistive signal to your fuel gage. Depending on the vehicle, some failed sending units read full when bad and some read empty when bad. Did you bend the arm of the sending unit when you removed the fuel pump? Did the float happen to stick in a particular spot? The easiest thing is to check your connections at the tank. Most vehicles have two electrical connectors. One for the fuel pump and one for the sending unit. If you are satisfied that the connectors are fine then I would recommend dropping the tank again and inspecting your sending unit. It is virtually impossible to connect the sending unit to the fuel pump cable and vs. versa. Some vehicles have only one electrical connector for both. Sorry but that is the best answer than I can give you.

1996 ford f150 front gas tank gauge reads empty but tank is full pump in front tank was replaced about a year ago what could problem be

When pump was replaced, did you also replace sending unit? It is usually a good idea to replace sending unit when replacing pump. The sending unit also "sends" information about the fuel level to your fuel gage. It is also possible the float on the sending unit is stuck in the low fuel or empty position on the sending unit. Although on some vehicles you can replace individual parts of the fuel delivery system, it is usually a good idea to replace all the internal parts of the sending unit assembly at the same time. After all, most fuel tanks can be a real pain to gain access to the inner workings of the fuel delivery system, so why take the chance of having to gain access again.
Good luck.

Is there a fuel relay that could be going bad

The problem is caused by a defective fuel level sending unit inside the gas tank, it is very common and caused by the chemicals in the new cleaner burning motor vehicle fuels eating up the insulator on the sending unit. To replace the sending unit requires the fuel tank be removed, the sending unit is part of the fuel pump module and all are replaced as one unit.

How do i replce the fuel pump

  1. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2. Connect the negative battery cable.
  3. Drain the fuel tank, then remove it from the vehicle. Refer to the procedure found later in this section for details.

Using the GM fuel gauge sending unit retaining cam tool No. J-24187, J-36608 (or equivalent) or a brass drift and a hammer, remove the cam locking ring (fuel sending unit) by twisting counterclockwise. With the locking ring released, carefully lift the sending unit from the fuel tank.

Remove the fuel pump from the fuel sending unit, by performing the following procedures:
    1. Pull the fuel pump up into the mounting tube, while pulling outward (away) from the bottom support.

When removing the fuel pump from the sending unit, be careful not to damage the rubber insulator and the strainer.
      1. When the pump assembly is clear of the bottom support, pull it out of the rubber connector.

    To install:
    1. Inspect the fuel pump hose and bottom sound insulator for signs of deterioration, then replace, as necessary.
    2. Push the fuel pump onto the sending tube.
    3. Using a new sending unit-to-fuel tank O-ring, carefully lower the sending unit/fuel pump assembly into the fuel tank.

When installing the sending unit, be careful not to fold or twist the fuel strainer or it may restrict the fuel flow.
    1. Secure the sending unit by turning or driving the locking clockwise and into position under the tabs.
    2. Install the fuel tank assembly to the vehicle.
    3. Connect the negative battery cable and check for proper pump operation.
NOTE: A special tool is usually available to remove or install the fuel pump locking cam
A brass drift and a hammer can be used to loosen the fuel pump locking cam
Once the locking cam is released it can be removed to free the fuel pump

Dealer replaced fuel pump and fuel sending unit in 2006 Volvo S60

There was no need for them to replace the fuel pump unless it was in one assembly with the fuel pick-up & fuel gauge sending unit. I sounds like they installed a factory defective replacement pump or did a defective installation job. Have them put a different new fuel pump to see if the one they put in was a factory dud.
