Question about 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier

Problems after car battery replacement

I had a battery failure on my 95 Chevy Cavalier. Now the clock on the radio is always on. I have tried disconnecting the battery for an extended period, to the point that I have to reset the radio, but the clock is still on even with the keys removed.

The radio tuning button is the kind that you can push the button at any time and the clock will display the time.

Any ideas?

Thank you for the advice. The battery was a complete right off, the internal connections were breaking apart under extreme load. I will play with the wires and see if I can do some sort of reset by playing with them..

    Thanks again,

Sounds to me like you've got a fualty radio. maybe your clock radio was staying on and thats what drained your old battery. I would remove your radio and check the wiring. make sure you don't have any rubbed through wires or anything. If there's no evidence of faulty wiring then try a new cd player. After all, it could be an electrical issue inside your cd player. hope this helps ya out. O and by the way your clock light should be a yellow wire in the back of the head unit i beleive. the yellow wire is constant power from the battery specifically for the clock. you may also want to check your orange wire. that wire is an illumination wire for the radio. hope this helps

How do I fix the clock display on my 1999 Pontiac Sunfire?

It appears to be that the radio clock display has malfunctioned, and is due for a replacement radio, which could be an aftermarket or oem radio, maybe found at a junk yard.

Tools required for oem replacement radio, torx keys set.

Before working on the radio or other electronics, disconnect the battery cables with 8mm wrench.

Replacing the oem radio is much easier, if you obtain oem radio, compared to aftermarket radio, due to being direct fit.

The radio is same for 1995 to 1999 Pontiac Sunfire and the Chevy Cavalier, regardless of sub models, such as SE,GT, VL,VLX,Z24. etc.

Parts needed for the the aftermarket radio install :Stereo assembly, stereo wiring harness adapter, radio antenna adapter, and dash install kit.wiring diagram for the wire colors / functions, along with tools, such as torx key set, screwdrivers, wire crimper, wire stripper, double ended wiring connectors, hair dryer.

The oem stereo removal video is for the 2000 to 2005 Sunfire / Cavalier, but are the same or very similar procedures.

2002 chevy cavalier radio says Err Cal

The problem with having your interior cleaned by someone other than yourself is that the, someone other, just happens to spray "everything" in site to make the job easier and look cleaner. Unfortunately electrical buttons were included in the spraying frenzy and that is a no no. All sorts of problems happens when you spray these buttons including window buttons and it sounds allot like your problem.

O2 sensor. Doesn't come on all the time. Gives false signal at times. They carbon up and need to be sandblasted or replaced.

Sounds like it seizes, resets the clock

first start with the obvious...check the battery.if that is ok,then it is your starter that is drawing to much power when you try to start it.Starter will need to be replaced or repaired.
