Ignition timing for 96 dodge ram v8 5.9

Ignition timing on a 1996 Dodge Ram equipped with a 5.9L engine is controlled by the computer and is not adjustable. Attempts to adjust ignition timing by rotating the distributor will cause the fuel syncronization to be changed. If the distributor is moved or replaced, fuel syncronization should be checked and/or re-syncronized. This requires the use of a scan tool that can command the engine computer into "fuel sync" mode.

How do i ajust the timimg 2002 taurus

When you ask for help with servicing your vehicle, it would be nice if you would mention WHICH ENGINE your 2002 Taurus is equipped with. However, in this case it makes no difference because niether of the engines available for that year have any adjustable timing other than the cam sensor syncronizer. Adjusting the cam sensor syncronizer requires the use of special service tools.

2003 ford taurus 3.0 Vulcan cranks strong, you can smell the gas but it won't start. I tried replacing the ignition coil with no results.

It is one of two things. Crank shaft sensor, on timing cover, behind crank pulley. Or the camshaft syncronizer, or the camshaft sensor (sits on top of Camshaft syncronizer) Located on drivers side end of engine, in what used to be the home of the old type distributor.

Transmission won't come out of first gear and the whole dash board and radio doesn't work

In automatic transmissions the second to third syncronizers always seem to go bad first, the syncronizers are worn, bad or gone. This is common in these transmissions. Also you might check your trans fluid level, sometimes a low level will cause the transmission not to shift correctly.

What do I have to do to fix 5 speed manuel transmission wont shift into 2nd gear 97 s-10 4cyl

If it goes into the other gears OK , then it's not the clutch. You have bad syncronizers in the transmission. You can buy them in a kit. (All the syncronizers.) It's a basic transmission rebuild.

Camshaft position sensor

look under the coil pack you will find a round black housing just about where the distributor used to be before they changed over to the coil pack engine

2 screws and this housing comes off and it is the cam sensor

a word of warning the main cause of cam sensor problems is that the magnet in the rotating part
(or as ford calls it the syncronizer ) this magnet comes apart and actually hits the sensor and damages it
if this occurs you have to replace the sensor and the syncronizer this requires a special tool to set
it ( if you do not use the tool you will set a code for cam crank not syncronized

Hope this helps David
